Well, honestly, it's not his fault that it faded. If he didn't ding or scratch it up and it just faded, I'd accept it as "excellent" condition since it was a manufacturing issue that caused the fading.

It was a lack of UV protection. The original dyes didn't have any UV blockers mixed in to them, so the tops faded.

Thanks. Were UV protectors ultimately incorporated into EVH stains? If so, when?

I don't know the answer to that one. I know the Axis dyes have the UV blocker in them, but I'm not sure when/if the EVH's got it.

ever notice purple fades the most. no biggie to me if my wife didnt jsut have surgery i would buy it and refinish it.
