I connect my Pod using the return loop on the back of my Marshall.
The Marshall effectively becomes a tube pre amp for the Pod the "tone" controls are ineffective this way- it works just great and I suggest you try it this way on your set up.

I found that on my marshall the treble bass presence controls were not very effective when using the return loop.
I find that it's the best way for me.

Just turn it up to 11 !! :D

If it was me, I'd plug into the front of the amp and note yer volume.

Then into your effects into the return and try to get your volume to match - it could work ok this way.

Do you mean you bought a used MP1? Those were made in 1986? They are awesome though. I used to have one until recently, which I replace with a Tech 21 PSA-1.

I've been in the same spot you are now. Personally, I wouldn't send it into a head. It just colors the tone WAY too much. It isn't made for that. You need to buy a power amp and use that to power the cabinet. If you use the input jack or the return on the head, you're still going to get a manipulated tone other than what the ADA is actually producing. Some people can live with that. I can't, especially if you intend on using it live with whatever amp is available. Spend the $200 and buy a power amp and stick it in the same rack. You'll be better off.

I ran a JMP1 for years into the return socket of JCM900 heads and combo's. They worked just fine. All the controls did nothing except the presence and the master volumes and reverbs. What was cool is that you could use channel a and channel b masters to give you a footswitchable boost.

I read in this months guitar world matey from Iron Maiden does just this with his JMP1 and JCM2000 heads.
