Anybody got Derek Sherinian's new album Blood of Snake?
JP played on one of it's track (Czar of Steel), really cool stuff, gotta check it out.

Anyway, I've beening longing for a talk box, and this reached its boiling point, and I gotta get one after listening to the last track of the album, "In the Summertime" featuring Billy Idol and Slash.

I've been refraining from getting one because of the hassle of setting it up, plus I heard that if you're not careful, you could blow up your amp head with it. (?)

But I've seen some hassle free talkbox on the market right now, but just don't know which one to go for. Any recommendations? Or any good talkbox?

Thanks a bunch!

I haven't personally tried it, but I have heard good things about the Danelectro Free Speech pedal. Wrorks great according to some people who have used it. You just have to watch how close it sits to your amp.

But I thought the talkbox will cut off the signal to your amp and direct it to the PA when its switched on?

the traditional talkbox (ie: the heil) goes between your head and speaker, the sound travels thru the tube and hits your palette and then is picked up by the mic. The rocktron doesn't need to go between the head and speaker and is safer to use.

I had one of the original Jim Bean Talkboxes in the 70's when I used to cover Peter Framptons "Show me the way".

A lot of fun to use, - watch your teeth fillings 'cos they will vibrate loose!! :D

And the Banshee it is!

How the different setups of the Banshee differ?
I saw some of them connect it through the send/return loop on their muti-effect pedal, some through PA, some through amp (although this is not recommended... why?). A little lost here

your guitar goes into the banshee and thru the tube to your mouth. It is no different to the others, other than not having to go between your amps head and speakers. It has a little speaker and amp built in. You will still need a pa to connect a mic.

I don't have one, but the other guitar player in my band uses a Rocktron Banchee and it sounds great! He uses it on 3 or 4 of the cover tunes we do and he just nails that old talkbox sound. :D

Care to name a few of those songs? :)

I used to have a Dean 100W in the past. Needed to modify speaker connections on my old amp to connect it right.

Go for the Banshee.

I got one too. Works like a charm.

Not even a risk of blowin your amp. Safe to use and it's a perfect Talk Box sound.

And cost just U$129.00

Yup! Just ordered mine through Music123 this morning!
Other sites are either out of stock, or they can't ship the Banshee outside the US.
