I'm too lazy and forgetful, so I just keep mine inside the truck of my car, with no case, that way it is always ready for the next gig. And I haven't changed strings in 8 years.

Not really.

I use a gig bag, but I do put them back in their hard cases when I get home from the gigs.

I think that having them outside the case when not in use just collects dust unecessarily, and may expose them to unnecessary climate changes (dryness in the winter, for example.)

Unless you have a controlled climate inside your home with the right temperature and humidity, I think inside the hard case is the best bet.

Hello, first time poster, long time lurker. I don't have a Musicman yet, but I'm hoping for one real soon. This post got my attention so I thought I'd throw in my 2c. I keep all my instruments, bass, guitar, Dobro, clarinet in the case, in a closet & in a room with a door. I used to keep my Les Paul on a stand next to the amp when I wasn't using it, had done that for as long as I can remember. Then one day I got a call from a friend who's car had broken down & rushed out to help him. I put the guitar on the stand as usual, but I guess I didn't shut the door all the way behind me when I left.
ANYHOW, the puppy managed to get in the room while I was gone & decided that my Paul woud make an excellent teething ring. When I got back, I looked in horror to see the puppy laying there gnawing on it. I couldn't really blame the dog, but the guitar for all practical purposes was ruined beyond any repair. LESSON LEARNED.

Thanks all for the information you provide on MusicMan basses.

I leave them in their cases. I dont like dust collecting if I leave them on stands, and I think that the temperature and humidity varies a little in the room during the seasons and I dont want this to affect them too much.

My baby lives in it's case - which itself then lives either on or underneath the coffee table...

We do want to get one of those stands that holds about 5-7 guitars/basses, but we don't have enough to warrant them yet... (well we have 3 inc mine, plus Trev wants an AL, acoustic and 12 string...) But when we do we may go down that route - when we have a proper room to keep them in - rather than spare/crap room :D

good to see other New Englanders here!

BA, I've been here for quite a while man. There are more of us here than you think.

I'm going to be talking to a guy this week about lessons and I see from his web pages he plays a Steve Morse. Maybe another one real soon. ;)

my MM basses are on hangers and the rest are in rockstands.

ive never worried much about how i store my guitars. i just make sure not to place em somewhere that ill trip over em and that's about it.

i really dont think a guitar can get hurt by just sitting there safely. w/o a dog chewing on em or them getting kicked off a stand what could possibly "break" or permanently damage a guitar?

My studio is always kept at a stable humidity and temp. It's a bunker with it's own security system. There are no dogs, cats, kids or any other humans allowed. Cigar smoke is the only bad thing that I can think of.

Here is my wall of Balls...

Chuck your lucky to have a sanctuary like that. Someday, I just keep telling myself someday. Under those condition I'd probably leave mine out too.

Nice collection, but I've told you that before man.

Welcome aboard, Stevie. Any first post that contains a Les Paul Gnawin' Puppy gets my vote for "Best First Post of the Year." :D

In the case.

Around the corner from the kitchen,
in the room behind the door,
that used to be painted white,
but isn't anymore.

I keep most of my basses out and hanging. I like being able to quickly grab down the one I want to play. And I like lookin' at 'em :)

I always work it where at least one, sometimes two hangers are empty so the wife doesn't realize how many are in the house at any given time ;)

My basses live on stands (a couple of multiple stands, a couple of Hercules hanger stands, and a bunch of those small Fender stands), with most of the cases stored in a cupboard or in the shed. I keep my double ATA case, a single ATA case and a Hiscox case in the music room for transporting basses to gigs as needed.

Can I get the street address where this pic. was taken. Also, I'd like to know when the building is empty and the security codes. Thanks, I don't have the time to get all mission impossible right now. :D  :D

If I'm not mistaken that wall's in SLO...

All mine on the wall...

Always admired and always ready to play.

I keep all mine in their cases while they're not in use. Get flashbacks of a few accidents when I was a teeneager.
