Hey guys -- I'm looking for a sturdy, super protective gig bag to haul my Stingray SR4 around. Anyone got recommendations?

Fender's website has an "ultra" gig bag and new foam cases -- I can't find them locally and have no idea if the foam cases will fit a Stingray. Some cases aren't really designed for a SR4 head.

Thanks, all!

Welcome to the forum!

Get a Road Runner.
It's got the shoulder straps in the right place to the bass isn't sticking 3feet above your head, nor hanging so low it hits your heels when walking. Also, they have a nice "man purse" that is removable, so you can carry a couple cables, music, tuner, pens, stomp boxes, strings, lipstick, WHATEVER! I thought the clips that hold the bag on looked kinda cheap, but after stuffing it with 3 fake books I realized that they worked perfectly, and I've never had any problems.
It's the best quality bag I've used. Has real thick padding, movable neck support pads, and rubber on the bottom so when you set it down on the ground the bass is safe. Sturdy, strong zippers. Fits my SR5 with no prob.

They are seriously great, and guitarcenter carries them.
Get one. You won't regret it.

the roadrunner is a nice bag, but the warwick rockbag is the best gigbag I have ever used, and I have used alot of different gigbags over the years, one of the best features on the rockbag is it has a velcro strap that goes around the neck just below the headstock, this prevents the bass from falling out of the bag when you open it, check one out, I think you will like it.

I had a Rockbag, but mine fell apart rather quickly. Maybe it was a lower end model - the inside strap mentioned is nice.

I like the Levy's CM19E - lots of padding.

I have a Reunion Blues double bag - super nice.

The RoadRunner gig bags are good - and not too expensive.

I use a RITTER, and I'm happy about it : there's also a "strap around the neck" to prevent the bass from falling when opening the bag, lot's of pockets to carry cables, plecs, sheets, keys...(depends on which model you choose).
Easy to carry, not heavy but very protective (not as much as a case of course) : my old 15" combo once fall on my bass in the trunk of my car because I was to fast in a curve and did not make sure the amp was stabilzed, but the bass was safe.

Where can you buy Ritter bags? I have one for my steinberger and love it, but cannot find any dealers that carry the bags for a full-sized electric bass.

Undercover Cases gigbags are great as well. Once again I reference the incident earlier in the year where my bass was punted across the floor by an angry drummer. Case fine, bass fine.

+1 on Levy's - mine has lasted for nearly 7 years of HEAVY gigging. When I can afford it, I'm going to get an Incase, though. They look great, have nice extras, but most importantly are designed and constructed with a great deal of thought and skill, IMO - incasemusic.com I think.

I have an older F%nder gig bag. I've never seen another one like it online, but it's a pretty nice, heavy-duty bag. Pretty comfortable on the shoulders, too.
