Picked up my bass. Played for about 5 minutes... Something just didn't feel right.

Guess it's one of those nights.

Anyone else ever have one of those? Fingers just aren't movin', head just ain't groovin' ?

yep, I'll do that sometimes when I've had a tough day at work, I'll come home and just want to play, and nothing comes out right. you just hang it up til' the next day.

I haven't been able to play last night as the hand-brain coordination just isn't there... um even typing is an issue after the amount of vodka I consumed at our xmas party...

Touch wood the gap between my brain and my spinal cord will be greatly reduced by tonight :)

When that happens I try to play through it by doing a good, long warm-up. Then I get back to the task at hand.

Yeap, we all have those days/weeks/months sometimes where we just aren't getting stuff out. You just have to keep plugging, and eventually you crap the proverbial watermelon and you can play again! haha! I find that if I have trouble motivating myself to practice (which has been an issue lately), I make a cup of coffee, really trim the fat with what I'm going to practice, and maybe listen to some music quietly for a bit and meditate. That gets me re-focused in most cases.

Ha, ha. Yeah, I've even had a day like that in the studio once on a one day recording. What can you do? You just grin and bear it. But it is one of those things were you start thinking about getting a different identity.:D

Yeah, having one right now. Just got my PBB Sterling and I cannot seem to play anything right on it! That is why I am here. Guess I will just install the strap locks and wait for the clear pickguard to arrive. Hopefully inspiration will return tonight!

haha...you guys crack me up. And I do agree, when I am having a night where practice seems fruitless and boring, I can grab a few beers and stomp on the mutron and I get back to the basics. Like a baby making baby-talk...Just enjoying the sounds

The other night I decided to video myself playing after I realized that I have no video clips of me playing my 2 Stingrays. Let's just say I wouldn't post these on YouTube or anything like that.

Here's what I have been experiencing....Playing used to be like riding a bike...I could go months and then have a gig or jam and no problem...ideas and execution were a piece of cake.......I have had three gigs in the last year ond only one of them was worth a damn.

I just cant reach back for it like the old days.......I guess I have to start practising....

Some days everything flows and other days my hands feel like bricks. Being on a computer keyboard a lot doesn't help matters.
