Well, I just woke up here at the Fairfax, VA Marriott, hooked up the laptop and came straight to this thread... that bass still has me gassing!

MNF, if you look at this photo:
You'll see that the knobs are attached to the pickguard. There is a cavity beneath the knobs where all the magic stuff goes, and it has all been dropped in from the front of the bass. Thus, front loaded electronics.
Another example:
No cover on the back for electronics, right? Just a battery compartment. So the electronics have been loaded from the front.
On the SR5 20th, no pickguard - so that beautiful expanse of finish is uninterrupted by a plastic pickguard. Just fine looking wood and knobs. On the back of the SR5 20th, you'll see the cover for the compartment for the electronics, meaning they were installed from the back.
Hope that clears it up.

I figure I have about a year to go before the 20th SR5 makes me happy I was born a woman.
What ever this bass looks like or doesn't look like, it is one damn fine looking axe, and would be welcome in my woodshed any day. I know that it is made by some of the finest craftsmen in the industry. BP and his people have signed their names to this axe and that is all the reassurance that I need. Since none of them called and asked for my design ideas, I think I just need to trust their judgement. BP and Crew haven't let any of us down yet, have they? All the bickering seems useless to me. We all love and admire the fruits of their labor, and I have my faith that anyone who orders the SR5 20th Anniv. will not be let down in any means.
