I'm new here and, believe it or not, as a Brit EB/MM player and fan I joined this forum with a little trepidation.

There is a real cultural difference between the old world and the new. That's not to value one culture against another but merely to highlight the fact, and to celebrate it a little. This schism is, I believe one that we must accept, try to understand and work around.

So far, my experience here has been very heartening. As a forum this place is sound. Nothing I've read from those who have the most credibility has made me raise an eyebrow. Yes, there is some 'bullsh*t and a fair bit of 'toadying' going on but that is at the worst amusing.

So, I suppose if I create a new thread I had better say something.

From this side I hope all you lot 'over there' have a great holiday and may 2007 bring you all the best bass moments.

Peter,

We're glad to have you here. We were so USA-centric for a while. It's not only pleasant but also instructive to have people from different countries contribute different perspectives.

I joined this forum with a little trepidation.

It's worked out pretty well so far.

Wishing you and yours the happiest holidays possible,

Jack

You definately grow to love this place! Despite being:
a) English
b) Rather young
c) Female

I seem to get on quite well here too - you grow to love this bunch of idiots who frequent it too ;) Nice to not be harrassed or picked on for any reason!

Thankyou for the good wishes - right back at you! :D

Welcome!

Um, please forgive my ignorance, but what is "toadying"? Does it belong in the same category of words as flat, lorry (sp?), water closet, or loo?

Just kidding... Well, not really... what does it mean? LOL!

You think that's strange - wait until you Merkins learn what "rooting" means in other parts of the world.

in australia rooting is quite similar to 'the act of making love' however rooting is far more manly and is to only be attempted by true aussie blokes.

and a merkin....well, some things are best not dicussed :p
