Nice! How do you like your Budda amp?

Thanks! I never keep the same stuff around for too long, but I'm super impressed with the two EBMM guitars. I had two Stingrays last year (was gigging on bass at the time) and that really got me interested in trying their guitars. Just got the Luke this past week used locally. What a freaking killer guitar!

I've only had the Budda for a few months, but I've used it as a head with the 2x12" cab pictured above, as well as in the 1x12" combo shell at numerous rehearsals and a couple of gigs and I must say I really like the amp!

It has ALOT of midrange and it really cuts through in almost a "honk" way, but it's not THAT bad. But you can't get any metal scooped tones or anything from it. Definitely vintage voiced with a crapload of distortion.

The clean channel is definite Vox territory and the drive channel is a blend of Vox and Marshall tones, which is how it's marketed. They desribe it really accurately.

I'm in the market for a 4x12" as well. I just sold my two 4x12" cabs this week and I think I may pick up a Bogner UberKab soon.

Chris,

Sounds like your Budda is pushed by EL84’s? I know their gear is quality but never actually heard their amps. Thanks for the mini review.

Yeh, Balls do sorta spoil you, don’t they?

The power tubes go like this:

SuperDrive 18 - EL84s
SuperDrive 30 - EL84s
SuperDrive 45 - KT66s (this is the amp I have)
SuperDrive 80 - 6L6s

All of the amps look identical with the same controls and cosmetics. They should change it up a bit. I think the SuperDrive 30 is being discontinued, but I'm not positive.

I know nothing of KT66s, never heard them. From what you've said I gather pretty midrangey.

I had a Budda wha for a short while, and it was made like a tank. Good quality stuff. Not outrageously priced either.

Yeah, they're stuff is pretty good. The build quality on this amp is okay and certainly as good as anyone would ever need, but I've seen some amps that were just overbuilt (Diezel comes to mind.)

I'm not sure if the midrange is from the KT66s or just the amps voicing overall. I think it's just how the amp is voiced.

I see you've got your Morse in the background and the Luke up front. Any significance to that? You mentioned digging the Luke but what's up with your SM?

Yeah, it sounds fantastic! I really like VHT stuff. I've gone through two different 50CL's and a Deliverance 120 head and they all sounds great.
