depends where you live but in many countrys you need a creditcard to pay by paypal. some other contrys allow to put money from your bank account to your paypal account.

paypal explains it very well on paypal.com. make your account. send money. ready steady go. very easy. when you wanna send more money you need to verify your paypal account. but thats also explained at paypal.com

Paypal works either by credit card or by bank transfer. They also do currency conversion, thought the fee usually gets passed to the receiver of the funds, and not the sender.

I've had a good experience with Paypal. Alot of online stores have started accepting it for payment. Saves having to scramble for your wallet in the middle of buying something.

paypal is the safest, and its pretty easy to use too. can be a little difficult at the start to get the gist of it, as there are a few things that can go wrong. isnt there a code they have to give you to make the account, but it can take 30 days to get to you?

Only if you're using a bank account.
From memory Credit Card is all ok, and almost immediate.

yeah but the initial startup of the account takes some time doesnt it? after that the payments are instant. to get a paypal account apprived they send you a code to activate it, before you can send/accept money. this code takes weeks to arrive doesnt it?

Things may have changed, but I recall registering, adding a credit card, validating, and making my first payment all on the same day.
Was really quick & simple.

Anyone registered recently ?

The only thing that takes some time is getting verified. Essentially the step that it takes to get your bank account added for instant transfer. They have to confirm that the routing numbers are correct.

Yep, for BANK accounts they do 2 small transactions, and you need to check the statement or online. This may take a number of days.

But for credit cards, I'm sure it's instant, as all the checks are done instantly by matching the CC number, the expiry date, and verification number (just like any CC transaction ).

By using your bank account, Paypal offers additional buyer protection.
CC's aren't covered direct by Paypal, but you probably get the standard protection that comes with them ? (i.e direct from VISA / Mastercard etc)

Whatever the case, it all works very very well once up and running)
