I was out getting some firewood today and on the way home I seen a GC sign in the distance. I stopped to see if they had any Bongo's in stock. Only one, a Red fiver.......:(

I did test drive a Sterling. Great tone, but the neck was a little too thin for me.

I spotted a Stingray 4HH and sat down and gave it the once over visually. Great workmanship, not a flaw one. Awesome neck, felt so right in my hands. So I plugged in to try it out. Holy mother of pearl I have never played a Bass that sounded so right, and I've played many. In all honesty it played and sounded better than any Bongo I've tried out so far. I thumped on it for about 10 mins and I could draw any tone I wanted with the flip of a switch or tweak of a knob, extremely user friendly. Fat and very punchy. Smooth and warm. Bright with much clarity. This one was a do it all Bass. Sustained forever.

One of the GC guys came over and said great bass Huh? Yes sir, I replied. What's the bottom $ line on this one. While he was fingering his computer I searched my wallet for my Credit Card, the wife had it......DANG. He knocked off $300 from the tag price. No card, No cash, No Bass. I told him I would be back tomorrow. So I had to leave without it..........:( :( :( :( :(

On the way home I remembered that I have Church in the morning and straight to work after that and I won't be home till 11PM Sunday night. I'll run down there 1st thing Monday morning and pick it up. What a find.......:)

hahahaha thats a great story, although one that is told a number of times around here, which isnt a bad thing.

MM's seem to do that to ya dont they. They manage to take you by surprise and then when they have you they wont let go!

I had a simlar experience, except mine was a single H ray but instead of getting it there and then, i decided to go for the 30th anniversary upgrade! It should be arriving this week...

I haven't had the pleasure of playing the 30th yet, but I'm sure it's a great Bass. Congrats.........I did see the Video of Big Poppa playing it and it impressed me much.

Enjoy............. OMB

Congrats on "finding" the HH Stingray. The switch positions on those basses are magic - the tones you get are awesome.
