Guys, you won't believe how beautiful these basses are. The 20th SR5 that's posted today is so stunning. My boss set that one up. I got to set a 20th SR5 HS that's going to some lucky bassis. The sound and the feel along with the look, Awsome!
Towards the end of the day I set up one of the 1st Limited Edition 2007 Sterling HH that's going to the NAMM! Let me tell you, This is one powerfull little bass! I couldn't take my hands off of it. But, alas, just like all the beautiful basses I set up, it had to be shipped off. By the way, if there are any gitar guys reading this......you won't be dissapointed either. The new JP's and Luke's kick booty!

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.

And that's just for the stuff you folks do every day.

Thanks x 1000 for getting the first BFR's done, setup and out the door in time for NAMM. I hear sleep is overrated anyway. ;)

So how does it feel to be making the best guitars in the world?

When I was hired 2 years ago, I was doing mostly fret jobs. I did set up maybe only a few hours a week, mostly Sub basses. After a few months I started getting better at setting up basses, I started spending more time doing basses. I finally got my own bench and now set up full time. I'm a bass guy, but believe me our guitars are some of the finest.
What does it feel like? It feels good that our work is appreciated by all of you! I sometimes wish that I could see the look on the persons face who receives a bass that I set up! I know what mine looks like after setting one up!

hey guitarafondio,
you and the other setup guys do some damn fine work cause these things play great straight outta the box. But really man, you gotta smuggle a digital camera into work every now and then! I'd drop, give ya 50, and recover with an "OH-RAH" for some pics of those namm basses!

id guess that their "run" will be like teh 30th Ray and the 20th Silo. There will be an almost year long order window. that's my guess... i dont work at MM but i beleive the 20th SR5 is an LE... hence a limited run.

however, another guess is that we're gonna see a lot of these types of instruments in the form of a BFR.

the new stuff is probably a sneak peak into the BP and Dargin's vision of the future of MM instruments

I sincerely hope that this kind of quilted/flamed/pimpy instrument does not become the mainstream of EBMM. I doubt there's any danger of it

Remain calm, citizens. There is no danger! Remain calm!

Seriously. You think they might abandon the winning formula?

It will be okay, AD. You got any valium in the house?

A douglas we have evolved in our production techniques, talent pool and at the end of the day we can only make so many guitars and basses. We either have to expand and try to continue to engineer down the costs of standard instrument or make a line that showcases our talent and gives us the ability to generate more revenue to finance our growth and help us keep up with rising costs.

It is petty basic. If you can make a guitar that is every bit as good as the competition why not?

The days are numbered where we can try to slug it out with Korea, China and other counties of origin...we have to up market to continue to grow....

I want to thank you guys for all your responses. We strive hard to make sure that the instruments that you get are set up to the letter as per the EB standards. My boss Whalen keeps us on our toes. He has the last say on every instrument that goes out, and I mean every single one. He catches the most little things such as the neck plate screws having sharp ends. (from the screwdriver slipping off!)
I didn't notice this until the other day but, while we're setting up instruments, we each consider that instrument as "ours" until it's put on the rack for shipping. Theres a lot of pride at work.
Again thanks to all of you!!

The pride and pieces of yourselves that you put into each and every axe is the reason so many people come back. When someone buys their first Musicman, they know they are getting a fine axe, but the quality of the build and sound will keep them coming back. I think I'm the only member here that owns only 1 MM. I am trying to decide on a color for the Stingray 5 I'm gassing for.

Nope. I only have one. A 99 SR5 in Honeyburst and maple board. I love it. And am sorry to say that in order to get the 20th anniversary SR5 I'm going to have to sell my current SR5:(

I've only got one too. And it's also an SR5 Honeyburst with a maple board. AND I will probably be selling it to get the 20th. It's a 95 though. Ah, synchronicity! (the concept, not the Police album ...)
