I have finally sold the guitar which I named my avatar after. For the fist time in 15 years I do not have a silverburst LP.

On the plus side, I am looking for an AL.

Hardly play my Les Paul now - I keep it for (very) sentimental reasons. It's paid for itself time after time!

What I do play a lot though is my AL.

You will love it!

I played an awesome Gibson Explorer last night. Belonged to a good friend and it sounded great! But my girlfriend commented that it looked weird me playing one! I dont intend on getting one, but it was a nice axe anyhow!

Hey Glenn

I had to sell it. The prices on them are just stupid right now and it was a chance to make a couple g's. My other LP's actually play and sound better anyway.

Looking for a non-trem one with single coils. Not super picky about color.

There is a hardtail s/s/s trans gold / tort at Rocker Guitars in SF that phattduckk tipped me off on recently. It had been on sale for a great price but was brought back up a bit just after the new year. Still not a bad deal though. You may want to try and contact them - check the dealer locator for the number.

It could have something to do with a 'minimum advertised price' requirement in their contract.

I know when I was shopping Marshall amps a year or two ago, I had to actually walk into the store to get the dealer's *actual* price. He could quote me the 'minimum advertised price' over the phone, but his actual price was lower.

Plus I think they work on the "if he's in the store we call sell him more" theory

Naah. Not this store. They're the best, and maybe the oldest store in the Pittsburgh area.. which would include an area of about 5 or 6 surrounding counties. They don't use *any* pressure tactics at all. I buy a lot of my stuff there, and it's probably over 20 miles from my house. I have at least 5 other stores that are closer, including 3 stores within 3 miles from my house. Yet I'll make the trip there because they have nearly anything you'd want in stock, and the prices are as good or better than GC.

I think I'm wearing off on them, because they have two ASSes and a JP in stock! (Plus a NOS sub1 guitar). They always have several StingRays and a Sterling or two in stock.. but never any Bongos. I plan to take my Dargie Bongo 4H in there after it arrives so that I can 'audition' a few bass amps.

Different store. This one is in San Francisco. They won't ship either. I found a nice AL elsewhere, though and it is on its way.

reminds me of a story Michael Caine (the English actor) tells. He wanted to buy a Rolls Royce and the first store he went to was very unhelpful. So he went another dealership on the other side of town and purchased one. He then proceed to pull up in front of the first store in his new RR and wave to the salesman as drove round the block for an hour...
