These rankings are always very subjective... I personnally like the November Rain solo, I just find it very melodic (for lack of a better term), but I can see why some people might not consider it one of the 20 greatest ever.

not so bad, seen worse lists!! November Rain is deinitely cool though, but im not sure its better than Sweet child. Both are fabulous solos, but i lean more towards more melodic solos these days, and NR is one of the very best melodic solos of all time.

Yeah, awesome melodic solo.
Sweet Child just gets my vote for the way it builds and climaxes the entire song, not to mention the intro etc.

I find November Rain a little tedious.
I think Slash was on different Planets for each album.

Well although not in the top 20 the one that STILL gives me goose bumps is...
WAR PIGS - Black Sabbath Paris 1970.

I saw them around this time with Curved Air supporting.

I even had one of those "Star T shirts" as worn by Bill Ward.

Pure volume - Little effects - Awesome show.

Note to self
Dig out DVD of that show and relive youth !!

Does anyone have the picture of Slash playing a Silo? Heard a while back that Slash played one. Wondering how it looked like on Slash...

Some great songs on there, i love the part "more we loved" and they had "Smells Like Teen Spirit - Kurt Cobain" ROTFLMAO. This dude is so overrated.

Have you ever listened to "Easter" by Marillion? That's another melodic solo that just cuts me to the bone! I'm not saying one is better than the other, I love GN'R...but Easter is special. Rothery at his finest :)

Gary

most amazing is that it was done in one shot, I mean when they wrote the song he played it once and that's was it ! Bingo !

Looking foward for the concert in April and the new album

Also, glad to See comfortably numb number 3 on this list

Marillion are one of my favourite bands, ever since hearing Misplaced Childhood when it first came out back in '86!

Easter is a great track and one of the few solos I bothered to learn note for note.

MFreak I was thinking about doing the M weekend thing but backed out, now if I'd known a forumite was gonna be there too...

Rob, if you want to get a good taste of Marillion get the most recent album, Marbles...

Still a Clutching At Straws fan though ;)

Hope you'll find it and like it.

If you can't find I can prepare a cd for you to discover this band. I'm a big fan since 1984 have seen them 14 times live a very long story between me and them :p
