OK - I think I missed a few things.

1. Is the order window open for 2007 LE's?

2. Did the Sterling 5 get introduced at NAMM?

and........

3. If you were going to order a fretless LE - which configuration would you select -
Sterling Hp or Bongo HSp?

Thanks for your input.

Still no Sterling 5
Still no Bongo 6

I'm not sure when the order window opens for 2007 LE's, I imagine it started right after NAMM , or during NAMM for those who were there

Maybe a MOD or Customer Service can reply to this post and give you the exact, correct, INFO

Hmm, Aziah is sneaking around that other question:

3. If you were going to order a fretless LE - which configuration would you select - Sterling Hp or Bongo HSp?

Um, lemme think, lemme think, lemme think...like you don't know what I would do.

All this Hp and HSp stuff is starting to look like a genetics experiment.

Oh, and get the Bongo.

Eggman, these are eggcellent questions and you will be eggcited with whatever you eggventually choose. The eggernomics of these basses are eggceptional.

I'm going against Phatty and siding with Jack and Ben on this. However, I am wavering a bit by mixing the two and suggesting a Hp on the Bongo.

Eggman,

There's a HUGE difference in feel between a Bongo neck and Sterling neck. The Sterling neck is much thinner and narrower... especially toward the neck pocket where the Bongo neck gets pretty hefty!

True - I own one of each currently. I have no problem switching between them - feel-wise. I am interested in tone differences and flexibility - cuz I have not played an EBMM fretless. I haven't seen any in town to try.

man, I know this is gonna sound retarded but when I hear a fretless, I just hear "fretless". No matter what kind of bass I'm hearing, if it's a fretless with rounds or flats, to me, it just sounds like a fretless.
am I a bad person?

the one exception I guess is those graphite necked ones which just sound like plastic or something.

Pino playing a fretless= Amazing
Tony Levin playing a fretless=Amazing
Jaco playing a fretless=just alright...ok....AMAZING :p

but they all approach the instrument differently and they all sound different to me.

So I would disagree that all fretless has this genaric "fretless" tone.
