Hi- My friend, Melina, is tripping around Thailand, and gave an address for her blogsite- unfortunately, when I went there, I was told it couldn't be found; instead, it gave me this site as an alternative. So, being of a fairly curious and adventurous nature, how does being here lead me to Melina's blogspot? Oh, I did have a Music Man amp in the 70's- it fed the neighborhood, whether they liked it or not. Y. Elliman

Hello Ritchie- yes, it's Yvonne. You're not "Zito", though- are you? Nah. Too young. Nevertheless, I gather you're British- my second family. Miss the Olde Country. Do you know a Kevin Hewick? 'Talked' a lot of music with him, but i got really busy and lost touch. Anyway, i don't really know how to handle all the options offered at a site like this, and find myself wandering all around the place, basically wasting a bunch of time i should be putting to better use. Thanks for putting the Y and Elliman together- it's very flattering. It's immediately humbling and intimidating to field and then shy away from the mostly technical questions I see posted...wow. Wish i knew just an eighth of what you all are on about. Anyway, mahalo, and aloha.... and be well, Ritchie. Yvonne

Well, now when I want to post this, I'm being told that my message is too short. This is what I mean about being more ignorant than brilliant re this kind of practice. I fear i shall resubmit, and get the same scolding. We shall see!

Yvonne Elliman?

Lord, hon, I haven't seen you since maybe 1974. You might remember me as the tall, skinny kid, big blonde afro, row 30-something, and I think it was maybe Greensboro, NC.

I mean, I waved and all.

Hah, like I really remember the 70s.

Do you know Steve Lukather?

Iimagine "If i Can't ..." in the blue...?

Hello Steve- Wow, I'm just about to hit the sign out button, and I see a new response, and I have to delay the departure and, like a dutiful subject, acknowlefge the high sign and say, well, i take your reponse as a compliment, so thank you. And thanks for the invite to wander around Ernie's indefinately- I feel better. Clueless, but better. I'm taking my old standard into that down and dirty place, A minor to be exact, and expressing it like the lyric suggests. Imagine Carlos in the instrumental bridge just burning a Spanish style acoustic solo into the ground, where this person who's lamenting would rather be than to exist without that 'only one' to share life with? Yea. Listen for it. Nice talkin with you. Aloha no! xo Yvonne

My response was indeed intended as a compliment. I'll keep an ear out for your new rendition. I like A minor with some wistfulness.. a good combination.
Good luck with your career! :)

My timing's off

Er, I just follow what the authority box tells me to do, and hit the response key 22 seconds later like it told me. Hence, the repeated messages. Good luck to you as well in your endeavors - may you be filled with the energy it takes to get there. xo

Hmmm. I dunno if I'm doing this right, but hey, Jack! Sure I remember you! Next time let your girlfriend sit on YOUR shoulders... ha ha. Yes I knew Steve. He played on my "Night Flight" album along with the other bandmembers. Great players. Just great. No nonsense pros just gettin' down to business. Until break time. They were great at goofing around too. Thanks for taking me there, Jack. Keep the memory alive.
Aloha, Yvonne x

sreehC, back at ya!

Thanks for the good wishes- I love your beautiful country! Seems like a good place for lefties, being it's all backwards and down under. A very good place for lefties. I hope to end up down there one of these days. Malama pono. ('Take care' in Hawaiian...;) Y.E.

Hey, you got it working now.

brianjacktiffslukescotty.jpg

As you can see, Luke has given up music entirely and is now roping cattle in New Mexico. On weekends, he goes into town and sells western wear.

Okay, I'm making all of that up. I actually saw him last weekend and he wasn't even wearing the cowboy hat (which may or may not have been mine, truth be told).

Just be careful, Y, most of these guys here are bass players.

Speaking of which, we were just a few weeks ago talking about Carl Radle.

Geez! The vultures pounced, eh? :D No, sorry, not Zito. Though he was very kind when I met him. And not British either :) Russian heritage actually. The name Darling is an Ellis Island name. Don't know Kevin. No, I'm just a lowly bass player/cartographer. But I've been a fan of yours since the JCS days. Liked the "Love Me" album the best. And that track in particular. Anything written by Barry, Robin, and Maurice is fine by me! I'm gonna trot on over to your website and see what's for sale! :D

All the best,

Ritchie

No, thank YOU, Yvonne. Great to have you here, this thread has opened some much loved files in my mental database :)
