Are you feeling lucky, punk? If so, buy an "older" MM. On the other hand, if you want a bass that will be wonderful straight from the factory, buy new. This company's quality assurance is second to none.

Older 'Rays are very well built, and the build quality of a new one is second to none ... don't think this will make any difference - as Mark says the new one will be delivered with factory set up whereas you may have to get an older one set up ... dead easy to do.

Just comes down to money - (doesn't everything :( )

Good luck with finding the right bass - let us all know when you get it !

BS.

I first picked up a bass in the 1970s. Back then everyone said that old pre-CBS F*nders were better, that the then-new ones were crap. Now 70s Fenders are sought after.

It's all jive, rumor and perception. New EBMMs are superb.

I have a 70's F*ender P Bass

It sounds good.

But the best bass I've ever played was a StingRay, and I know its not everyones favorite, but the look, feel, and sound of a RAY is second to none, in my opinion

Thanks! Nobody answered my question though...

What's the real difference between the SUB and the StingRay?
I mean playing it, besides colors, paint and EQ.

Ok, I checked about 32 different music shops  and couple of days ago I finally found the last new SUB around. I got it for 800 euro (not bad for the prices we have in EU).

It's black, but since professional spray painting and airbrushing is my job, I'll fix it. :)

Thank y'all for the advices. :p
