Me too. I've come to realise that my playing is at such a level that the fine details of the instrument do not make too much difference to the noises I make. e.g The JP suits me best but I'm sure nobody else could tell the difference between the noises I make on that or my Axis or Y2D come to that.
For me it's very much 'monkey see...monkey want'
Perhaps someone could ask JP if he'd have another think about his request not to make a sunburst available to us poor punters!

Understand that. Just hoping this decision is reviewed at some point in the future. I will be interested in seeing the blue JP BFR once you folks have knocked one of those up.

BFR Luke in blueburst for sure is one of them, seeing you aint got one yet. maybe 2? Nah, a JP as well in Walnut.
I asked that in another thread and BP resonded somthing like: 'Only whimps can't bend maple. "
That being said it's somewhere between a veneer and a thick maple top. LOL

No, everyone will never be happy. Everyone will always want more choices.
But for the consumers I can't see any downside to getting to choose your top.
Honestly, I would likely cancel my orders if I couldn't be guarenteed a quilt top.
I think "luck of the draw" for a guitar that retails for $4k+ is unacceptable.
You'd be hard pressed to find a guitar that MSRP's for that where you have no say in the top wood.

My dealer said to me that the BFR F1 don't have the "the support for the picking arm" like the standard JP because of the maple top.
Is it right???
If it is, how does it feel without that particularity?

I can't believe the sh!t storm these BFR's have created, l'm not sure if l'm gonna order one or not (BFR Luke), l would love flame, but if l got a quilt, l wouldn't complain, as long as it's Ruby.
Sometimes l think BP and gang give all of us too much say, too many opitions.
Lets just leave as this, if you don't want to run the risk of not getting what you want, don't order one, wait until your local guitar store gets one so you can check it out, it's as easy as that, it really is. But when these people (l'm not gonna single anyone out) that are complaining about not being able to choice a top will be back here on this forum when it's all said and done saying "man l wish l had of ordered one of those BFR's, i can't believe they are going for double the price they were originally on ebay" Look at the EVH's, and l expect the BFR's to be in the same boat, so if you snooze you lose, just don't complain about it.

In a nut-shell that's pretty much my take on the whole thing. I'd almost rather have 2 customers pre-order a BFR knowing they will love whatever they get because it is something special, than have 50 tire-kickers waiting to see what "might" come in.
That being said, I appreciate both pre-orders and tire-kickers!

Yeah, that whole thing crossed my mind too. It must be really inconvenient for dealers having to turn down the majority of pre-orders.

I can see both sides of the arguement. I can see where a consumer would expect to be able to pick an option like quilt vs flame, especially at the price point. I can also understand to dwindling supply of high quality quilted/flamed wood (birdseye as well).
To me, it boils down to who's name is on the headstock. It is the Ball Family Reserve, and it's up to them to decide how to make their products.
It's going to be a 10/10 top either way. I say luck of the draw . . . vote cast.

Sorry to sound like an ass here Jeffrey, but are you a dealer selling these guitars? How do you know it's the majority? It's not. A few things...
First, I've only had 1 person change their mind after ordering their BFR(s).
Second, over 60% of the BFRs that I ordered at NAMM are now pre-sold.
Third, I've had 5 people contact me about BFRs and ask about picking a top. Four out of those 5 people put down deposits.
Fourth, We've all been begging EB to produce these models ever since the first prototypes were shown before the '05 Open House, and then once they are offered for production people start clamoring about how it should be offered this way and not that way, and all models built on the 3rd tuesday of the second lunar month after the solstice should be given special treatment with moondust.
Fifth, It's not cheap for any dealer to bring these guitars into their store, and I can see that the BFRs that do make it to store stock will be in short supply. If people don't snap up everything I have pre-ordered and I wind up getting some store stock, I hope it's what johnny-come-late-to-the-party wants.
I'm just happy to have the opportunity to be able to sell these guitars to customers that want them. Personally I could care less about if one has flame or quilt figure to it, I know that EB is putting the best of the best tops on these guitars and that's the important part.
