Well, I've selected a weekend and I hope it works for as many folks as possible. The weekend of April 13-15 is when we're going to go for it! Yes, it's tax weekend, but aren't they giving us a couple of extra days this year? :p It would be held at the Raleigh Music Academy in Raleigh, NC.

I was trying to think of a way to make it an extra special weekend for those who make the journey. So how about a Friday night concert with Doyle Dykes?! On April 13th, he will be doing a full concert for the RMA beginning at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $25 for the general public, but for any EB forum member who wants to come, I'll comp you the ticket. You just have to do two things for me. Notify me through the EB forum that you're coming and wear an EB t-shirt to the show and you're in for free! If you don't have an EB shirt, you've got time to get one. ;) :) And don't tell the world about the free entry either, so we still sell tickets and have a way to pay for the concert, LOL. As many of you know, Doyle is an acoustic virtuoso of the highest order and you will NOT be disappointed in the show he puts on. I think it's just a great idea to have the EB gathering on the same weekend as Doyle's concert with us. He'll be signing autographs and meeting with everyone afterwards. He's a very gracious and nice guy.

On Saturday, we should plan to get together and not only have some jams, but have a chance to check out everybody's EB/MM's. Saturday's schedule is yet to be hammered out, unless BP decides to show up and hammer it out for us. ;) But even if some of you can't make it to the Friday night show, come on out for the events on Saturday. It'll be a good ole time.

If you want to get me your names, I can make a list so we know about how many people to expect and guage the interest in making this happen. We want to make sure there are enough to want to come before folks book flights or hotels. So who wants to do it?! :)

Wow- that sounds great! Don't know if I'll be able to make it, but I would love to see Doyle! That guy smokes!

That`s awesome Paul.

I might be able to make it down there. My work here in CT should be done by then. I wanted to meet you and get to know RMA anyways.

Hey Paul,
How about posting this again on the General Discussion or Special Events section? Is it an 'all ages' show?

Okee dokee, so we've got a couple who say they can come. Who's going to come join us? :) Jchalas, it is an all ages show. We're holding Doyle's concert in a very nice performance hall adjacent to the RMA since it has a bigger capacity than our place. All the EB stuff like jams and meetings etc. will be in the RMA itself.

Anybody else? Are we gonna make this happen? I don't think Cud wants to come from NY to just look at me. :)

Paul, I'm still working on schedules, but my wife and I are tentatively planning to come down. I should be able to make a firmer statement in a couple of weeks. I'd really like to do this, although I must admit I'm a little intimidated at the prospect of visiting the academy....I suspect everybody there plays a LOT better than me! :D

We'd be happy to have you. And no intimidation is warranted! :) We're a small group of folks teaching lots of beginners and intermediates. We aren't GIT with a shredfest in every room. :) Now as for Doyle Dykes face melting playing, that's another story, LOL.

This is cool. The group is slowly but surely growing...

I wish I could come. Maybe, I still can, but these damn 2007LEs and BFRs are making me think twice about it. :(

One more bump here. I really want to know if there are any more who'd like to join in. Perhaps the timing just isn't good for a get together, although it matches nicely with Mr. Dykes. :) Maybe I could do something later in the year that would be more suitable for folks. I just don't want to plan on this and only a handful show up since some would be coming from quite far. I think everybody agrees that we want maximum participation so it's more lively for all there. :) So let's see what people say this week and I think we'll have to decide here very soon so people can either plan on coming or plan on waiting for another time later in the year.

Thanks!

Well, I think we're going to postpone this gathering for now. There isn't enough interest for this timeframe, it seems. So let's put this off til later - maybe after the summer? I'm committed to making it happen one way or another. :)
