First let me say that I love my sparkly new Stingray, it plays great and sounds fantastic. Its a 4 string 3 eq with piezo, Honeyburst with matching headstock.

My only slight niggle is that there is a dead spot at the 7th note on the G. The sustain on the 6th and 8th is much greater than the 7th.

I have read of others having this problem so I am aware that it can happen however here is the strange part; if you pluck the G leaving all the other string unmuted and then mute the D all the sound stops in other words it is the D which is doing the majority of the resonating and not the G7th.

My questions are as follows:-

1) has anybody else had this happen

2) Should I worry about it as during a normal gig it won't be noticible

3) Is there anything I can do to fix it

I am in the UK and have waited 6 months to get my MM so the last thing I want is to send it back to the states if I can avoid it.

I think you should talk to the shop, and maybe the nice guys at Strings & Things.

Thanks for the replys.

I have emailed customer services 3 times and had no reply. The guy I bought my MM from has had a look at it and said he would talk to Strings and things so I guess I should wait and so what he has to say.

Thanks.

I would try a different string gauge and see if that helps. Also, check to make sure that there is not too much relief in the neck or that the string saddle is too high.. Sometimes that can cause a little lack of attack from the 4th-9th fret (rough estimate) After that, I would learn to deal with it, it is a relatively normal occurance on wooden instruments. Although, I have never had a deadspot on an EBMM bass.
