How do you guys have your EBMM Axis set up?

I recently bought a Axis with the intention of learning/playing more of a rock/van halen type guitar style. Of course to do this I needed an Axis.

I am in my final "tweaking" stage and I think I almost have the guitar set up perfectly for me. ie. Low action, 9-46 strings tuned down 1/2 step etc. In short, the guitar plays and sounds great.

My main question is: should the trem. be flush against the body of the guitar? I'm a little confused because I can see (or think) that that has the possibility to scratch/damage the finish. however, I read where EVH said that he believes everything should be connected to the body of the guitar. So, I would assume that he set up his AXIS like this. I would also prefer to do this because of tuning stability, etc.

I would like to hear about how you all have your guitars set up and any other comments/advice would be MUCH appreciated.

When I had my Axis I had it sitting flush on the guitar no float. No scratches or dents either.

For some reason, personal preference I guess, the previous owner of my Axis had it set up to float. You could bend the pitch up about 1/2 to a full step.

The first thing I did was crank the trem claw screws down and put it back to dive only.

It was made to sit flat.

The only damage that can happen to the finish is when you take the Floyd off (for whatever reason). The knife edges aren't made to hug the trem posts like an OFR, so it can very easily and rapidly fly back onto the top.
