Theres B A S and There is C.T.D. (cheaper than divorce) We must educate spoooouses of both sexes that a little handbuilt guitar is better than half the assets.

My secret is to buy colours that perfectly match the decor in the one of the rooms in the house...it then goes under the "household/decoration" line of the budget sheet and not the "Paul's BAS" line :D

Woah, I bow to your addiction ! that's impressive, it makes me feel much better about only wanting 2 axis's (plural ?, axes, axai ??)

Believe me, there are many 'sicker' than me around here. Ask ernie1966 about his JP collection, or Brett8388 about the EVH or two that he has knocking about!;)

If you guys are deep south where does that make me? Just south? Deep Midlands? Deepest North? Sub Scotland?

I am resisting the JP bug at the moment as I really want a Luke but everytime i see a JP and I have to fight the urge!! It would be a lot easier if my favourite guitarists didnt play EBMMs!! I love Satch but I have no interest in going out and buying a JS! :D

Worcester? I would say that makes you nearly-but-not-quite-Welsh!;)

PS Don't fight the JP urge. They still can't make me play like him, but they are the best guitars I've ever played/owned.

Ha ha! I thought you were going to say that she can't see them when you hang them on the wall then!!!:D

As far as i can see a different colour is a whole different guitar :D I find a red guitar has a slightly warmer tone than a blue one

I think the UK meet up is a v good idea!

You don't honestly think I'm going to fall for that one do ya? :D Besides, in our house, it's MY turn to buy next now! Heehee

As long as the meetup isn't in Worcester (as it's too close to my inlaws in Wales and I'd have to go and see them then!) I don't mind :)

I find running out of the house screaming is as good as a polite refusal when my Mum suggests I go and visit the rellies in Wales!

I've got to admit I do find it strange that somone buys mutiple copies of the same guitar. Ok if you are a collector then fine that is different. But if I buy a new guitar it is to do somthing different than what I have. There are too many great guitars out there to 'waste' money on duplicates.

The obvious exception is if you are a gigging musician you will probably want a backup to you No1 guitar.

Welcome to the forum
On this issue you will get no sympathy here. I've seen people run off here for that.

I have my guitars because I can is my only reason. I just love them and it's what I do.

6 to 8 Silhouettes depending on how you count them

Multiples?

Well....

I've got two Axis Sports', one SSS and one HH, neither of which are going anywhere because of the scarcity of them nowadays.

I got an ASS last year, because it had the piezo pickup and now I'm seriously (B)GASsing for a 20th Silo.

I'd still like some more Sports' though......

Hmmm...this one does not appear to have been assimilated into the collective yet.

I'll go fetch the strange tubes, wires and bits of painful looking metal and get him plugged in...;)

Hey Dazza welcome - nice to have another UK'er join in.

If EBMM guitars were around in the 70's I think I would have more than one by now.

All you need to do now is buy yourself an Albert Lee guitar!

I am not sure why I ended up with 5 of the same guitar, but I like it!

I have no plans to get another one.... at the moment! Mostly due to lack of space in my new house!

I really liked my Rosewood MM90 ASS when I first got it & still do, but when I picked up my first Axis Sport the real trouble began. Now I'm keeping my eyes peeled for SSS & MM90 Axis Sports to complete the pickup configuration collection. Too much of a great thing is never enough. Enjoy your ASS!!!

Well i have 2 of the same guitar and of course the obvious choice would be something different for my next purchase, but i just love my JP'S so much it's hard to go with something different...I guess this how alot of us here feel and just end up getting the same model in a different color, but there all BALLS so enjoy them.

As for my wife she does not approve... she still thinks i just own one.

HI Darren. Really nice to meet you - sounds like you're pleased with the guitar?! I really meant it when I said its one of the best I've ever had. Probably the easiest playing guitar I've ever had in my hands. And when you're tired of playing it, you can just sit and admire it. These things are woefully undervalued, even here in the UK.

I vacillate between owning lots of guitars and then feeling guilty, selling them all bar one or two gems (like the EVH you tried) and then the whole process starts over again...ah, such is GAS. Sunds like you may have caught a dose.....

Cheers, Steveh

PS: Interesting point: Darren apparently told his wife the guitar was costing him £225!!! Hope she doesn't read the Forum or it's D-I-V-O-R-C-E!

Its a rule of thumb that you knock at least 25% off the price when telling your partner. Luckily my girlfriend is totally understanding and helps me import these beauties!

Never mind fudging the numbers .... just make sure the color matches at least one room in the house so it will blend in better:D

Or, do the subtle question or two ... every once in a while (no, not every day) .... 'what do you think of this color?' ;)
