Hi, all

I'm still absolutely loving my JP7, but i was wondering if it's possible to send it back to the EBMM shop to have it updated with a couple of the new features like the compensated/shelving nut and the push/pull pot to activate the "both humbuckers" mode.

I don't feel the need to update the bridge pickup to the D-Sonic 7, as i'm VERY pleased with the stock pickups. (Though i have thought of maybe replacing their ceramic magnets with AlNiCo V magnets.)

Does the EBMM service department do this kind of work? (For a fee, of course.)

Thanks for any info!

You cannot "upgrade" your old nut to the compensated one. I don't think EBMM will do the push/pull thing for you, but wait for jongitarz or someone from the company to confirm or deny. I don't really know.

Never heard of that push/pull thing.

When did EBMM start to put this option on the JPs ?

Yep...Push/pull on the F-1 BFR's No...we don't upgrade to a compensated nut. The only chance of a non compensated nut to be changed is if the neck had to be replaced for some reason. All new necks (replacement necks included) have the compensated nut.

Thanks guys.

Is the compensated nut a new 2007 feature too or was it already on the 2006 models ?

darren, you have you solution: break your EBMM neck and you will get a new one with a compensated nut :D

Compensated nut is not new for 2007. I'm not sure when it was introduced. 2005 seems right, but I'm not sure. May have been earlier.

Believe the comp nuts were first brought out for the Buttercream LE in 2005 and then started as standard for all instruments ordered toward the end of that year. My old rosewood had a comp nut - ordered 9/05 and born 12/05

Ok, I understand, that's why the nut on my new Mystic Dream model and the one on my old Pearl Redburst look the same... Again, thanks :]

Well, that's a drag about the compensated nut, but i understand and can appreciate that the company doesn't want to do this modification... fair enough.

I could probably do the push-pull mod myself, actually. Any chance of getting a wiring diagram?

how do i tell if my nut is compensated... little to the left?

If it looks like this, it's compensated. (Most instruments shipped starting in September/October 2005 came with this)

Comp nut was first introduced on the Bongo -- when was that, September of '03? I think we showed them at the '03 NAMM show and started shipping them later that year...
