So, I've been selling basses - not playing out much and I just had too many. Been pulling back in many parts of my life, you get to that point where your stuff starts owning you. Feeling pretty good about selling stuff and throwing stuff out.

Got good news today, my Dargie Bongo 4 HH has been 'released' - so, good for me. Through this all, I've beenn thinking - I'd like to have a 5er to work with and learn. No big hurry, but if I get another bass it would probably be a 5.

So, I'm in the area today and stop by Guitar Center, and what's the first thing I see when I walk in the door - Blue Bongo 5 HS at $<street price edit>. Literally right at the door. Normal store ware, nothing over the top. Biggest things wrong are a bent volume knob (easily fixable) and no case.

What to do...

Lorino, <street price edit> sounds like a damn good deal to me. I'd snag that up in a second if I were you. Hope it works out for ya.

My apologies to EBMM and Moderators - I did not know and/or think about posting street price as a 'no-no'. Won't happen again.

I have said bass and it is my no. 1 bass, I would highly recommend it. My volume knob was bent also........must be a guitar center thing only took about 30 seconds to correct. My number 2 is a bongo 4 HH which I use for a special tuning, our guitar/bass tech keeps telling me to keep the 5 hs for all, but I still do love the tone for a couple of our tunes with the 4 HH.

As you said in your opening post you would probably get a 5er to learn.
So keeping that in mind go that route I did and I'm glad I did.
I went the low B route with my 5 string and had 3 or 4 other brands before I found the Bongo 5. I will never go back to a 4 string and never play anything else but EBMM basses...
For me the 5th string opened up whole new ways of playing, it even in some cases makes it easier.
My biggest hurdle was looking down at the neck and thinking E string when in fact it was a B.. made for some interesting bass lines (LAF).
However you will be glad you made the effort..
Good luck

I am also trying to learn 5 string, yes it does make some interesting sounds when you hit B instead of E lol.

Good for you, you will master it..
It took me a while and I did get frustrated..
The best thing is not to use your 4 string while in the procces of learning..
That is where I made my mistake.. It actually made it a longer learning procces.
Once you master that extra string then go back to the 4 if the need is there.
Any way just my experience.. the Bongo 5 string is great..
