Peter Gabriel "Secret World Live."

I got this some years ago and it's the reason why I know who Tony Levin is. Therefore, it ultimately is the reason I'm here and playing a MusicMan bass.

(Who is that guy...Tony Levin...how does he get THAT SOUND...MusicMan SR5?...must check out MusicMan bass...see Tony in concert...HOLY CHROME WHERE HAVE I BEEN ALL THESE YEARS?!?!???!???....you know what happens next.)

This video really changed my whole world...just watch the performance, listen and you'll see why.

I mention it right now because every once in a while I like to watch it and play along...something I'm doing this evening. It is never a waste of time. It always leaves me completely satisfied and drained.

Tony is playing the famous "Barbie Flesh" SR5. And BTW...David Rhodes, the guitar player, has an EBMM of some sort...an Axis, I think.

Just go get it. You won't be sorry.

Funk Fingers. Yes.

Somewhere out there is a website in Japanese where a fan did a truly obsessive deconstruction of these things (measurements down to the millimeter) and shows how to make them. One of these days I'll give it a try.

I had some for a long time that I got from Tony Levin. I rarely used them, and I eventually sold them for about 6x what I paid for them.

The Peter Gabriel DVDs are great. The Up concert is good, too.

Speaking of DVDs with EBMM content--I'm about to order the Toto Blu-ray so I can get me some HiDef Luscious!

I have the DVD and, although I quite like it, I was very disappointed that at least some of the audio (particularly Gabriel's vocals) isn't from the performance but was recorded separately.

A great purchase. I like the performances better on this one than on the UP DVD's. TL's tone is better on this one too, IMHO. What was the original name of that color, by the way?

+1 on the performances. The keyboard player and drummer on Secret World have better stage presence. And while it's cool that Peter had his daughter Melanie doing backup vocals for Growing Up, Paula Cole did a better job on Secret World.

BTW, I've seen TL's pink bass in person, and it really IS pink.
