One thing I've noticed with EBMM guitars is that while each guitar seems to have unique pickup switching configurations, all EBMM guitar have the same two-knob, volume+master tone configuration, even the signature models. The only exception I know of is guitars with the piezo option, and the Axis which of course has only the volume knob.

Now, don't get me wrong, this is a very versatile configuration, and if I could only have one set of controls to go on any possible guitar, that'd be it. But there are also a number of other good configurations, as well as innovations yet to be made, and I'm just curious as to why no other control configuration is available on any EBMM guitar. Does EBMM feel that this particular control combination is sort of a "trademark"? Is the reason economic? Something else I haven't considered?

In other words, whaddupwitdat?

I have to say that I've never felt the need for any other controls on my guitars.
Actually, I very rarely use the tone knob, so I could do without it too.
Just one volume knob (and of course the pickup switch) is all I need 99% of the time.
But that's just me...

The 2 knob configuration is one of my favorite EB features. The only reason some makers add a third knob is so that I bump it when I'm playing; suddenly cutting sound completely out or blasting it uncontrollably above the mix :p. But seriously, I find the 2 knob set up out of the way and very convenient. I've never used the volume and tone knobs so much as I have since owning these guitars. Perfect!

Maybe I'm just a control junkie?

Truth time: I actually got into guitars almost by accident. I'm a long time synth programmer/player and those of course are naturally festooned with knobs. So, many conventions for guitars seem a little strange to me.

Anyway, it seems evident that many guitarists' preference is towards simple and uncomplicated. Good to know. :)

Oh - small FYI - I find that brass or steel tele-style knobs are less sensitive to accidental brushes and bumps, especially compared to plastic strat-style knobs with the ridges.
