I called three small shops and stopped by a fourth with a simple question:

"Can I order a MusicMan pickguard from you?"

On the three that I called, I get a long pause which I interpret as

One said, "I'll have to find my catalog." Another had the temerity to say that he didn't have a clue. The third said that he's a new dealer and hasn't learned how it all works yet, but that he was working on it (this one almost got the order regardless). The one I stopped by is no longer a dealer.

I'm thinking that it can't be this tough, so I called Customer Service. Two VERY friendly people and 5 minutes later and it was done.

I do try to go out of my way to support local businesses; particularly small shops, but sometimes you can't beat going to the source.

Thanks!

Ken...
