Yes, I wound up calling Kevin at Ernie Ball and he says they've already got the order in to have a brand new body made for me. I don't send the body back to Ernie Ball and neither does the store (yet anyway).

In 2 weeks or so, my new body will be ready and will be here at my local store where it will be swapped out with the old body. The old body will either be given to the Ernie Ball rep when he's in town next or shipped back.

I buy all of my gear stateside since I'm right on the border and yes it is much more costly and time consuming to goof around with crossborder shipping.

It just seemed odd to me to worry about costs on a $2000 guitar. I asked Kevin what my other options were and he said I could just return the guitar to the store and order a new one which would then be a 6-7 month wait.

I agreed to just wait out this new body, let the store swap the parts and then I will examine it like a forensic scientist before I leave the store with it. Any problems and I'll just get a refund. I'm patient but you have to draw the line somewhere.

Somebody mentioned the store guy beng a friend. Yes he is and I trust him to take care of me. If I get let down, we'll deal with that at the time.

As for being an "authorized" dealer isn't that just based on the volume of product that they are able to move? What are the requirements to become an authorized dealer?

We only have two other shops in town and both are considerably smaller volume stores but the one happens to employ one of the most respected tube amp techs in the Province. I would trust him to work on ANY guitar for anyone.

I will keep everyone posted and if/when this turns out 100% pleasant, it will ease the minds of my other Canadian friends should they be faced with a similar problem. If it doesn't turn out, I'll be the sacrificial lamb and look like an ass!

BTW, Kevin also said that if I'm not 100% satisfied after the swap that Ernie Ball would do whatever it took to make me happy including covering all costs to send the guitar back to them as well as the costs to send the new to me.

That's relieving but if that's the case, why not just do it in the first place?

Hi Everybody!!

I'm on top of it. A replacement body has been put on order for Foolsfortune and will be completed in 2 weeks(rougly...as you know we want to make sure any Music Man instrument or part that goes out is in 100% top notch condition, so if that means it takes and extra day or two to build the body then that is what we will do) and sent out to The Pickers Alley. Domestic guys....keep in mind that warranty claims or handled a bit differently outside of the US. So anytime you have an international customer inquiring on warranty procedure you can always point them in Beth or my direction so that we make sure they get all the correct info. Rest assured that I have the utmost confidence in the PIckers Alley to carry out and complete the body replacement. Our #1 goal on any warranty instrument is to get that guitar in question back up to speed and make sure its...playing, looking and sounding like the Music Man instruments that we all love. We have a great base of Music Man dealers in Canada who provide their's and our Music Man customers with quality service from sales to repairs. Foolsfortune, as I said earlier ,if you get your instrument back and you have any issue's let us know and we will do everything we can to get that instrument back to 100%. To answer your question about why we wouldn't have you send the guitar back in the first place, is simply because we have 100% confidence in our Authorized Music Man dealer to make the swap. Feel free to e-mail of PM me if you have any questions at all.

Have a Great weekend everybody, its a 3-dayer for me!! :)

Our Canadian dealers are hand-chosen by our experienced team of Canadian representatives. Factors considered when signing on a new dealer are proximity to existing Music Man dealers, knowledge of the product, passion for the brand and a good credit reference (tee hee!). :)

Because we trust our authorized dealers to handle the problem in the first place. We will step in and help out should something go awry.

Question for Beth or Kevin. When it comes to a warranty replacement part (body for example), I thought you guys had to have the affected part in your posession before the new part is sent out? But it seems the opposite is going to happen in this situation......new body is going to be sent, then the old one will be sent to EBMM.

Thanks.

And here I thought all that mattered was how they handled Sterling's Canuck jokes :p

well.....we most certainly require getting any "proprietary" part back as a trade in when it is being replaced. This goes for necks, bodies, pickups, pre-amps.....etc...etc. Internationaly, rather than doubling the customers wait time by having the old body removed and sent back to us first, we will first build the replacement and then send it out to the shop that is handling the repairs. At that point the shop will take the old body(or proprietary part) in as a trade in. We then have the old faulty part sent back to us by the shop so it can be destroyed! Cheers!

So I've really been enjoying playing the JP while I wait for my new body. What an awesome guitar! The piezo sound is incredible....makes me want to play clean stuff just so I get to use it.

I was trolling around here and saw a guys tour of the EB factory and I found it very interesting.

Maybe someone from EB can chime in and let me/us know where my new body is in the construction process.

Also, will it be shipped with the electronics and bridge already mounted? That seems like a good way to control quality.

I met the guy who will be doing the transplant. Very nice guy, but can he solder? He's just a young dude so something tells me I may be in for a few "surprises".

Please relax and let the factory and customer service do their job. Asking and stopping to answer just delays every instrument in the chain.

Calm down there BP, I didn't mean any harm and was just curious. I usually buy sub $1000 Iban-something-or-others so switching to $2000+ Ernie Balls was a big step for me.

I did see the EB factory tour thread but I don't know the build process. If it was as easy as someone picking up the phone and asking "hey, what's up with JP git #xxxx?" "uhhh, body is cutout, and routed...just needs paint and buffing" what would be the harm?

Thank you Kevin. Please go collect your raise :)

hey mike...check you pm, I just got back to you.

From here on out just make sure to send any customer service questions directly to customer service, it just makes the most sense for all parties involved. We have so many new post(s) being added every hour on the forum that if a CS question is possed in a thread that a CS Rep isn't subscribed to there is a good chance that it could get lost in the mix. Eliminate the middle man(forum) and contact us direct. You have my email on hand....

[email protected]

ps
No raise necessary.....im just doing my job(thats why you should send the question directly to customer service), thats what we're here for.
