Well after playing my Dargie Delight all day and most of the night. I hit a bit of a downer... There is a finish crack around the neck joint, by the upper horn. What do you think I should do? The finish crack really doesn't bother me, but since the guitar is so limited I'd like to keep it in perfect condition. I don't plan on gigging with it nor taking it to practice again. Just playing at home. Should I get it fixed or just leave it be?

I know it's rare and limited and all that, but unless you are planning on selling it in the future to get some money out of it, you should just keep playing the HELLLL out of it :D. I'm pretty much makin my 20th Silo my main geetar at this point, and hopefully no stupid scratches and things like that will happen to her, but I DO hope it will maybe look like Steve Morses No. 1 at some point...which will reassure me that I still love playin. Does this make sense? hahaha

Oh I know customer service rocks. It just that I finally got this bad boy. I'm in the honeymoon stage.:D And also there is a chance another finish crack can come. Due to the fact that it most likely happened in transit.

Larry, I know what a let down this must be for you.

One of mine had a finish problem, and I was torn whether to just live with it or to take EB CS up on their offer to send it in for an inspection. I really didn't want to turn it loose, especially because I already sold my other guitar and this would leave me high and dry. I decided to send it in. EB replaced the body but kept the same neck. I'm glad I made that decision now.

Oh, while it was in the shop, I bought a second one, as a backup. I almost popped for an OLP, but Dan convinced me to go for the real deal. I'm very glad for that decision too.

Tough decision. Think I may be giving customer service a call tomorrow. I wonder how long it will take. I'm afraid if I wait too long they will run out of Martini Olive Green paint;)

We older guys remember every F@nd@r ever built developing those little stress cracks in the finish. It doesn't affect the instrument in any way except cosmetically, and that's a tiny one.

Man that colour is really pretty!

I'd just keep it, but if I had one, I'd plan on playing the heck out of it, gigging it, etc....SO that's me - if it bothers you at all (and I think it does or why would you have even made this thread, right?) then send it back and get it "fixed".

Larry, they'll just change the body out. They keep the same neck and hardware from what I've been told.

Larry,

When mine comes in it will be less than 1 of 4.
As much as I will want to keep it perfect, I know something will happen to it eventually. I wouldn't send it back.
The stress cracks are just a common thing with EBMM guitars. I'd live with it.
The irony is that you could give that baby up for a month or so only for it to return and you accidently put a scratch in it with you belt buckle or something.

larry this thread pisses me off. How many times can I ask that the your dealer is first then customer service and then publically on the forum. Decide what you want to do and we will take care of you.

Sorry BP I didn't know what I wanted to do with this situation. I wanted to get some feedback from some fellow knuckleheads. I didn't mean to start any trouble.

I knew I could call you Pete. Your always answering my e-mails and such. I just don't know if its worth wasting the time of the guys down at SLO. I think I'm just going to leave it be. Its just cosmetic.

Now that the guitar has a history of trouble, I'm lowering my offer to $900. But seriously, I'd keep it unless you are losing sleep over it.

I think shes a keeper. I'm just afraid that down the road if I had to part with it. The re-sale value would be lower. I hope that day never comes though.
