I got mine not long after they hit the market, and it did not come with a case.

The reason, IIRC, is that the Bongo is a bit longer than your average bass (which is in part why almost all of them have the obligatory chip at the end of the headstock).

I bleeb I read somewhere that it wouldn't fit in the then-standard cases. The new cases fit all EBMM basses.

I picked up the case for my Bongo 5 HHP yesterday and I can definitely say that (1) The case is 3 inches longer than my G&G/G&L tolex case, (2) 2 1/4 inches longer than one of my G&L plastic cases, and (3) one of the best fitting plastic cases I've ever seen.

Bought mine used in 04 and it came with a silver tolex case, black fuzzy form fit interior. Long, almost as long as a T-Bird case.

Ahhhh... I wondered why my perfectly mint (purchased used) Bongo 5 had a bit of a chip at the end of the headstock. Damn cheap aftermarket cases!!!

Heh--the person who put that chip on there probably did it with a cymbal, ceiling fan, or guitar headstock while wearing the bass. I'm not sure a case sitting in the corner at the time would have helped.
