Cud...being the woodworking guy that you are and know more on the subject than I ever will....how does that happen? I personally have never seen ash with flame....can you elaborate a bit. PM me if you want to not take away from that beautiful Al up top. Thanks man. :cool:

actually, now that i think about it that ASH tree that we cut down was flamed almost throughout...wow i should have sold it to EB!!!!:D

Hey Koogs.

From what I've read, we're not entirely sure what causes it. It's believed that it is related to stresses the tree endures throughout it's life. If that happens in people, you could cut me open and use me for a few BFRs.

Other notions about how it happens point to how sloped the ground a tree grows up on is. Maybe because it can add to the stress of supporting it's own weight on the angle.

Sorry I can't offer any more infor but that's all I've got.

Wow :eek: - I thought my AL (same cosmetics) looked good.

I guess I'll have to keep living with the "plainer sister" :p
