I wasn't extremely happy with the sound of my Bongo and SUB 4 through my Carvin BR610 2 x 10 600 watt (at 2ohm:rolleyes: ) amp and decided to do something about adding some bottom end and tightening up my sound.

I brought my Carvin into a local store and did what every music store sales weenie dreads..... I spent an hour and a half testing out almost EVERY expansion cabinet in the store.:D Very loudly of course! I played Eden, Mesa, GK, SWR, Traynor, Fender and a few Ampegs. I played 1x15, 2x10, 4x12, 1x18 and 8x10 (overkill).

Suprisingly, the Ampeg SVT-210HE Classic Series Bass Cabinet blew away all of the others and was relatively inexpensive.

What a great sounding cab with MM basses!!! And it is fairly portable.

I am excited that my sound is now exactly how I want it..... and I just needed to share.;) :D

I have an Ampeg 410 Classic and while I won't drag it around anymore (the Markbass cabs are super light), it still sounds way too good for what it cost me.

It's kind of wooly for a 4-10 and I've used it alone for a metric boatload of gigs, but with a 1-15 cabinet, it sounds even better.

Bitch and gripe about Ampeg heads and where they're being built, but those Classic cabinets sound just like I want them to sound.

Congrats. It's good to be happy with your tone, isn't it?

You got that right. There is a reason that the Ampeg Classic cabs are almost identical to the ones I played 20 years ago, I guess. Why fix what works?

BTW.... Markbass amps/cabs are difficult to find in Toronto and the huge dealers like Long & McQuade and Steve's Music don't seem to carry them. The only one I have physically seen was the house rig at the Orbit Room in Toronto (Alex Lifeson of Rush owns the place). I have heard nothing but greatness about them but have never had the chance to test drive one.

I have a 2x10 SVT HE. Love it. Then the SVT 15 underneath it, well the neighbors love it. :)

My ampeg classic cabs aren't going anywhere.

I got myself a pair of SVT12HE single 12 cabs last year and am loving them. For the size, they are amazingly loud and love power. My power amp is bridged mono and feeding 1400w to these two cabs and the tone is to die for. Tight punchy and better the louder you go.

I also have a new SVT810E that is the bomb but doesn't fit in my current vehicle.

I have an EBS stack that works extremely well with my Fenders. I haven't messed with the amp settings, but with the Fender settings, it's not the best with my Sterling. I've got to mess with the knobs. I'm also thinking of a GK Backline head though, just for a difference in sound at a budget and as a backup head.

My rig sounds just as good with my new Fender Geddy Jazz which is a suprise!
