I was lucky yesterday and had the opportunity to try out a beautiful JP6 Pearl Redburst with Piezo. The dealer keeps it tucked away in the back, away from kids & stuff. He brought it out after I asked him if he was expecting anymore EBMM's as he has two subs hanging up.
Anyway, I've read all the stuff here regarding the jp's flat, wide (15" radius) neck and how it is uncomfortable for some. Well, I have short, stubby sausage fingers (hey, what can I say, Im' a short, chubby hispanic dude). Well, let me just say that the neck played like a dream. It was very comfortable and natural feeling; had no trouble playing stuff that I know how to play. My wife sat directly in front of my while I played and she immediately commented how effortless and comfortable I looked while I played.
The axis neck WAS my favorite vs. all of the other EBMM's I've played, but the jp6 felt so much more comfortable FOR ME. Perhaps the spacing on the neck suits the thickness of my fingers much more while not being overly wide.
I just wanted to add this comment to the forum for future searches of this topic. If you've got short, stubby fingers like me, don't rule out the jp6 until you play one. It will definitely suprise you.

A quick edit to this: I only played it for 10 minutes. Not sure if extended playing of a neck such as this would've been uncomfortable. Just play one!

i share your sentiments bro. i myself have short chubby fingers and i think the JP neck is perfect for me. i used to own a gibson les paul but eversince i laid my hands on a JP, i immediately sold my gibson and never looked back! hehehe.

This is very reassuring. I have fairly small hands and I love the Axis neck cos I think its more fitting but i have ordered a JP despite having never played one and was a little wary that the neck would not be best suited for me but i guess it may not be the case.

I should take solice in the fact i played a Ibnz Wizard neck for 16 years so really i dont know what i was worrying about.

Cheers dude

All I can say I have tested every model except an Axis but must be the same as an ASS and all are great no problem adjusting to the neck or radius. Just easy to play :)

Yeah, I agree with this comment. So far, every EBMM I've tried (haven't tried yd2 and AL), have all had very comfortable, playable necks. A few days ago, I was at guitar center & they were trying to shove a $2000 PRS down my throat. Couldn't touch JP6. Glad I didn't fall for that one.
This was more of a post to dispell some of the myths about the jp6 and small hands, especially since for some, the chance to play one before you buy is limiting.
I know our friend Rob from Australia has mentioned a few times that he didn't take to the jp6 neck, which made me think I wouldn't like it since he freakin' owns every other ebmm out there:D .
Good discussion, guys.

Well i don't consider my hands small, but i will agree that the neck on the JP is the most comfortable i have ever played, and let me say i have pretty much have played everything out there including every model that EBMM makes.

The natural finish on the back of the neck combined with the thin radius and smaller scale neck length makes for a very easy playing neck. 10 minutes OR 3 hours can pass and it is comfortable no matter what. That explains why I am waiting on my second JP!
