Okay, I don't normally bash guitar makers, but in the spirit of comparing EBMM quality and Customer Service to that of other guitar companies, please forgive me (and my Albert Lee lets me do this), and here I go. BTW, this story is loosely based in truth:

Automated voice: "Thank you for submitting the serial number of your new F***er guitar. Based on the serial number you typed, your guitar was manufactured in California, Mexico, Vietnam, Korea, Tatooine, or possibly one of the comets that orbits the outer rim of our galaxy. It was born between 10:04:14AM GMT and 10:04:18AM GMT. It is a S***tocaster Deluxe Premium Custom Special Deluxe Modern American Deluxe Highway John 5 Mayer non-Deluxe Clapton Hendrix Eric Johnson non-Clapton Mario Andretti Shrek model, which, while indistinguishable from our $249.00 Mexican S***ts, retails for $2,499.00."

"Press ONE if you need the nut re-cut. Press TWO if your pickguard is missing screws. Press THREE if you want to replace the scratchy volume pot. Press FOUR if you think our quality stinks and we're coasting on our name. Press FIVE if you want to pay us $3,000 to take your medicocre guitar and beat it up in our Custom Shop so it looks like it's 30 years older. Press SIX if you would pay $2600 for an old newspaper once read by Edward van Halen. Finally, press SEVEN to be connected to EBMM. Or, if you are an idiot who has to have a certain decal on their headstock, please stay on the line".

I'm not normally this petty, but man, I love EBMM.

hangin for all those pics mate!!!! especially the AL and the tobacco ASS!!!!

Fender do suck in that department. EBMM rule.

ps- lovin the rosewood ASS still!

Hey, Rob! Glad you are still digging the rosewood ASS. That wood with the MM90s, I do regret the sale :) :)

The F***er story is based on the buying quest of a friend of mine....he had to play 4 Strats to get one without one of the problems mentioned. He's a good dude, though. He saw my Albert when it came in, and said "This guitar has to be good given how ugly it is!". He then played it for 30 minutes and offered me what I paid for it! Of course, being a friend of his I said:

"NO DEAL!!!!"

BWAHH-HAHHH-HAHHHH!!!

Rob:

I'm a P90 / MM90 freak (I have two ASS's that way), but my AL is S-S-S. I think you have or have had both configs...how would you rate the Albert with MM90s, especially versus the S-S-S version? I'm not a slave to having a cliche'ed sound (like a Strat, for example), but like the ballsy, clean-almost-broken-up MM90 sound.

I'd value your thoughts...

Regards,
Hack

laughin here, Hack. I agree, not far from the truth, if far at all.

I don't understand why people think the AL is ugly. My kid thinks so too. I don't get it. Guess most guitar players are dogmatic, or just plain...

Yep I have 3 AL's- 1 SSS trem, 1 SSS hardtail, and 1 MM90 trem. The best sounding is the SSS trem, then the Hardtail. I love the tone, its so twangy and stratty, yet muscular at high volumes, and cuts through superbly. The MM90 AL is great too, pretty much the same tones as the SSS, but more beffier, but essentially the same tone. Nothing like the ASS MM90's in any way. The 3 MM90's in the AL really sound like single coils, trust me. they can handle gain better than SSS too.

the girlfriend thinks the AL AND the Axis are ugly

I did too at first, so maybe she will see the light :D

Has she seen SpudMurphy's gorgeous black cherry burst AL? If she doesn't drool over that baby, I'd have her vision tested. :D

Pic, Spud? (or Foggy.. whoever gets here first!)

Thanks, Robes....

Sorry for the delayed reply, I've been traveling on bidness (aka, making more gear money).

I'm completely happy with the SSS AL, but wondered if the MM90-equipped version would make me more...completley-er happier mostest..whatever. Sounds like I needn't worry.

But, I did just draw the MM90 ASS out of the holster, and rip her through the Dr. Z...man oh man, mixed emotions abound. Once again, this setup a) makes me sound better than I have ever sounded, and b) reveals how much I suck when there is no place to hide. Just like my AL...once all of the limitations/excuses land on me, well, now we're talking.

Thanks, EBMM!!
