Strings for Stingray :-)

Hi, I hope it's ok to ask some dumb questions on here

What are the most appropriate strings to put on my 2004 Stingray ?? EB ?? But they seem to have different grades, and different prices, obviously I'd like to pay the least !!

When I put new strings on, the sound goes very bright & rattly on the frets. Is this "new" sound the correct sound, or do they have to be "played in" ??

Last question !! On what basis does one choose 40's or 45's or whatever, is it sound, or playability or something else ???

Pls don't kill me if these things have been done to death before. I'm mainly a piano player but took up bass about nine months ago, and I'm having a great time !!

I've sold a few instruments on eBay too, with the help & advice of forum members, so thanks for that !!

buy any kinda of ernie ball strings, u seriously cant go wrong
try out regular slinky's and go from there

you might want to give super slinkies a try . . 45-65-80-100
ez to play . . nickel, soft feel, medium tension, not too dark/bright, good price

The standard strings on the bass are Super Slinkys. Start there.

I use Power Slinkies because we tune down alot.

Our guitar player uses those crazy Zakk Wilde strings that are like bass strings.

How about Warwick Black Labels? Fantastic strings on a Thunderbird and a Marcus Miller Jazz I once had.
