My Silo Spec has quickly become my favourite guitar... but that will end when my LE JP comes in...

I don't gig often at all, but there is the odd time that I will play elsewhere, usually in smaller spaces... I'm already debating whether or not I should bring my anywhere... I'm afraid of it getting damaged...

Would you guys bring your Dargies, your BFRs, and LEs to do a gig?

I don't want to have any museum pieces ... so I regularly take all of my guitars out to rehearsals, gigs, etc. That's what they're made for.

I gigged my ASS the first day I got it:D

wait, that doesn't sound quite right .....

I buy my guitars to play - if I was starting a museum, then I would have invested in art:D

Gigging my JP6 doesnt worry me. The odd ding here and there. No problem with that. I'm more worried about having it stolen. But I always have it in hand at gigs. I never leave in unattended. Sounds like a no brainer but I've heard stories.........

Some good replies...

It's true, and now that I've realized it... guitars are meant to be played, like cars are meant to be drived... Plus, its a chance to show off the true beauty of EBMM's!

I use my LE H bongo at all my shows and practices. To say it has received damage is an understatement!

1. Got a ding down to the wood on the body
2. One knob is completely missing
3. The other 3 are bent....about 30 to 35 degrees
4. Headstock tip got a ding to the wood
5. Back of the headstock got a ding (I was swinging the bongo and hit a stage light...ooopppsss)
6. Snapped my wireless jack inside the plug...but, I did get the broken jack out of there...so, that was damage to my wireless.

However, my Stealth bongo does not have a scratch and I use this one at gigs and practice as well....maybe, because it is a Stealth, no one can see to hurt it! LOL

I play in a metal band and we are all about playing and putting on a good show. I don't recommend our "stage antics" if you want your axe to stay pristine. But, The Weapon (Stealth Bongo) and the War Hammer (LE Bongo) have not let me down at all even amidst all our chaos. I hate to see them get hurt, but, I am not in a boy band either.

I do take care of it with regards to maintenance and cleaning. As we all should. To each his own...play 'em like you stole 'em is my thing. But, I do have other axes that don't see the stage and they are in mint condition.

I play them all regularly, and record with some and gig with the others. I've played out with everything, but . . .

The y2d gets gigged, along with the Blue Dawn AL, the Dargie LUKE & soon the Dargie JP (replaces the Candy Red JP). The Dargies will be my main instruments for playing out, followed by the y2d, then the AL.

If I buy something, it goes to a gig. We play one place where it's very tight for the band, so I tend not to bring the real expensive stuff there. I've had near misses with mic stands being knocked over by patrons. That being said, I always have at least one JP with me. It's my main gigging guitar.

My '81 Gibson Les Paul Custom is my prized piece - simply because my Dad bought it for me. It cost $499 brand new back in '81. It now hangs on my wall, unplayed. I've always had a problem with the glossy neck, and I much prefer playing my EBMMs. Now that my Dad is gone, I guess that works out well - I'll be able to keep it in it's current pristine condition as sort of a memorial.

ive even dropped a bass on purpose to get over the whole "oh, but its so pretty thing". I'm not one to worry about resale value... and for personal "keepers" I think battle scars are cooler than sheen.

i figure i bought the stuff to use so im gonna use it. a scratch, a dent ... whatever, it still plays right?

I only have one "most prized piece", and it is the only one I use. No gigs yet though. I was horrified for a little while after I made contact with a boom mic stand that made a nice ding, and a paint chip. You can see the bare wood.

Whatever, it's a battle scar now. If I had a very expensive vintage piece, I would probably be more wary of it, but any guitar that costs less than $5000 was made to be played.

i dont have any choice, only have balls, gotta gig with something! I havent not gigged any of my balls, theyve all seen plenty of action on stage, and its a pleasure to do so i might add!

having said that, when i own a BFR AL i might think twice about bringing it to a gig where i know i'll get beer thrown all over me.....
