Really sorry to hear that.

They are having a stressful enough time as it is, with buying a place, this is the last thing they need. Send my best wishes.

Hey guys - thanks for all the good vibes :)

Am currently at my parents using their awfully slow dialup connection to change emai passwords, and to change anything that may have card details etc stored on it. I'm going to get some cash out later, and then I'll get the banks to issue me new cards, just in case.

Tiff is right on what they took - the Macbook (which I was due to back up - so God only knows what stuff I've lost!), Trev's DS Lite, and they emptied a pot of change, and nicked the food budget for next week. The oddest thing was that they emptied the kitchen rubbish all over the kitchen and living room floor, and then took the bag - ODD!

I've only just finished crying and can't stop shaking. The police were round quickly, and they've dusted for prints and we've got someone patching up the door apparently, so we should be safe. Trev keeps wishing they'd come round yesterday when he was at home, but I'm glad he didn't as you never know what people are carrying.

Have already rung the insurers and should be able to get stuff replaced quickly - which is good.

The police are baffled at the weirdness of the crime - a lot of effort for not much - they left all the CDs and games that were out that I am listing on eBay/Amazon and the guitars/amps (I know they aren't easy to flog) but still very strange.

But yeah - not what we needed with me starting a new job in London in 10 days, and with trying to buy this flat. I just want to get moved asap now - as I can't be doing with worrying about what I might come home to :(

Thanks guys - it means a lot. I'll check in when I can

Really sorry to hear that. You must be stressed enough at the moment without this to contend with as well.

Hopefully in a month or two when you're in your fab new place, and you're getting settled into your new job this will just seem like a nasty dream.

Good luck with the job and the move.

Very best wishes

Azzy,

That truly sucks, I am so sorry! You must feel so violated - that's how I feel when things have gotten ripped off from me. Wishing you all the best in getting back on track swiftly!

It is all material Azzy and Trev. Having lost a family member due to a breakin I can assure you that if both of you are okay you will survive the loss rather easily.

Yes it hurts.

But nothing like losing a life to a thief does.

Hang in there and maybe the authorities will get your computer back to you.

Password the hard drive on the next one.

That sucks hearing you got broke in. I kinda know the feeling...

Monday night I heard voices and a car door slam right out-front my house. I peered out the window to see two asshats standing in the bed of my wife's truck throwing out the cases of water bottles she had back there. They broke into the truck too and dumped everything out of the glove box and center console.
I busted out the front door and yelled WTF! One started running, the other kinda just froze there slowly walking away backwards. He then started telling me don't come near because he had a gun. We exchanged a few choice words, and I said BS and told him to show me the gun, and when he couldn't show me a thing, I told him I'm going to get my rifle! As soon I went for the house door, they took off running (as I expected).
So I quickly called the cops and three cars were in the neighborhood within minutes. Within 10 minutes they caught one of the guys, and turned out he had a warrant out for his arrest too. Both guys were lit...drunk or stoned or whatever. POS's.
Man, nothing like that has ever happened in my neighborhood, it's always such a quiet place.

terrible news...sorry but I hate housebreakers with a vengeance.I wont rent a ground floor flat for fear of them.theiving is the pits but its just so much worse when its your property.

nearly 20 years ago when I shared a house with 3 friends we all came back from the pub one night to find we'ed been burgled.turned out it was a fella we knew from the pool nights when he would sort of hang about the peripheral of our group.our house was about a minutes walk from the pub so he had no probs slinking off to do the dirty knowing we were all getting thoroughly smashed.
I ran upstairs to find my room had been turned over but my 79 StingRay bass and my acoustic 6 string were both was still sitting on their stands.mind you the git stole a months rent off my mantlepiece so it wasnt all roses.

at that time I was 18 and earning £80 a week or so.my rent was £100 a month.
my stingray cost me £450 back then and it took me 6 months to save up and get it.I hated him because he wanted to take away all that I had aspired to and worked for.I'd still feel the same way if it happened again.

my condolances to you.these things are normally followed by a positive so chin up

Someone stole my macbook today out of my yard!

I am currently waiting for the police. I was meeting with Kevin Lyman, (founder and owner of the Warped Tour). It was a nice day so we were working in my patio. We took a break for lunch and when we came back it was gone.

My yard is enclosed and their is a security coded gate to get in. There were two painters here and my gardener of ten years..... I dont understand how somebody could be so bold....

My stuff hadnt been backed up as I get the worst treatment in my company .....all my docs and photos are gone.

Damn...

Azz - and BP - so sorry to hear! Unfortunately, we all can relate to the feeling in one way or another.

And fortunately the scum of the earth are but a few among us (or so I like to think).

Hoping the balance in the universe provides a positive soon! :)

Wow...Azzy...glad you and the hubby are fine. It is tough when thieves steal your stuff. The good part is...you and the hubby are safe.

Big Poppa....you need me to work some personal security for ya?!?!? ;) Give me the call...I'm there. Shame really, I hope whoever stole your Mac gets slapped with a handful of fishhooks.

Azzy, look first at who's been in your place.

Sad but true.

It's almost always someone who's had access and knows what he wants.

BP, same advice. I wouldn't instantly look to the workers....wait, hell yes I would.

I'm sorry to hear all of this. Thieves really get to me. There's a special place in hell for them, I sincerely hope.
