I have one as well and I believe less than 10 were made.

I don't know about you guys but I think the 30th Fretless sustains like no other fretless MM I have owned?

Hey Scott,

Is yours lined or unlined?

I'm really tempted by the used UNLINED fretless that Beaver has for sale, but all that blank wood makes me nervous.

I owned an unlined fretless P-bass (with a MAPLE fingerboard) in the 80's when I was in my late teens and could never get to grips with it.... I loved the sound but my intonation was waaaaaaaaaay off at best.

Cheers

I have heard tell that there were only 20 blank plank 30th fretless made.
It looks like bass central ordered the majority of them, as I've never seen them for sale anywhere else on the net.

oh yeah, and I got one!

Hey Andy
Yeah mine is unlined
I just came off using a lined Fretless so you tend to adjust.

I apoligize andy they can send 2nd hand basses overseas I just relised he had one in stock

Hi Scott,

No problems - I emailed Beaver about a HH Stingray 4 in late 2004 and he informed me he could only sell used EBMMs overseas. I didn't believe him until Beth confirmed it in another email.

Sorry, I no longer have the fretless P-bass. I only owned it for a couple of years. I bought it 2nd hand in mint condition for $450.00 as a 21st birthday pressie to myself in 1986. It was an interesting caramel/butterscotch colour and really looked amazing with the blank maple fingerboard.

Unfortunately, I couldn't play it for nuts

Hi Pocketgroove82,

Thanks for that info. Damn, the blank planks really are rare!

Andy, when you play a fretted bass, do you look at the frets, or the side dots? When you're playing a fretless on a dark stage how do you manage? Unlined fretless is easy once you find the right headspace. Going from a fretted Stingray to a fretless is a doddle, since your fingers already know what to do.

I have never seen one, very nice. I should have ordered one for stock... Scott, how many MM basses is that for you now?

Bummer! Bummer! Bummer!

I just got an email from Beaver saying the used fretless 30th Anni Stingray has been sold but he has a new one at the same price which he can't sell me for obvious reasons :(

Anyone wanna sell a USED fretless 30 Anniversary Stingray to a good home???:D

Hi Mark,

Congratulations on the little one again :)

Many thanks for the reply. Makes a lot of sense

I generally tend not to look at my fretting hand when playing and if I occassionally do when playing a double-stop or a partial chord, then I tend to use the side marker dots... maybe i gave up too soon when trying to play unlined fretless last time.

Cheers

Ok, so there's Pocketgroove82, Scottbass71, Kylierider, the one at Beaver's, and mine. That's 5 of the 20.

Well when I looked 2 days ago, beaver had two (one new one used, not to mention what he had last fall). I think Dude sold two. And while online last night I stumbled across a store that still has a new one in stock (can't remember the store tho). And you can pretty much gaurantee a few went overseas.
Just from what I've noticed, the magical number of 20 probably sounds right.

Mine came from Dude, but as I think back I kind of recall hearing the 20 number from either he or the jacko rabbit himself.
