OT: Where I Was This Week

Lady Island eh Jack? I went there with Mrs JB when on a cruise a few years back and we visited the Mayan ruins.

I recall many big Iguanas - brilliant!

I also recall Cancun from a previouus trip, which we managed to time with post-graduation hols for your good ole USA teenagers - wow, did they drink?!!!!

I agree with your sentiment about doing it local.

There were plenty of iguanas, to be sure. The first one Erika saw made her scream and quiver and so on - we'd rented a golf cart and were circumnavigating the island - but she settled down after I pointed out about 800 more along the road.

From a Central American point of view, they didn't seem that big. Some of those green monsters we had in Panama looked like freaking dinosaurs. The wife, of course, though the Isla Mujeres reptiles were quite big enough, thank you.

We didn't get to Chichen Itza or any of the mainland attractions/ruins. We had only four days and since we were child-free, we decided to loiter as much as possible and lie around when not loitering and sleep as long as we wanted and basically keep it relaxed.

Which we did, we did.

That place looks great..............we went to Cancun before it became what it is today. Very nice back then and we were briefly at the Isla de Mujeres many many moons ago. Sad to say I don't remember the place. I think it was just a beach party at night. Oh well, definitely need to go back. Thanks for sharing. Glad you had a good time.........

Great pix Jack! We almost took a job doing surveying for a hotel project on Isla Mujeres a couple of years ago. Too many restrictions by the Mexican government. So we bailed. Nice place though!

Me too! So, I went further South!

Ambergris Caye, diving, fishing, coral reef diving vacation!

See it now before it turns into a mini Cancun!
