I knew that both their MacBooks had been stolen, and I was just wondering if they got their puters back...?

Hey Guys

No news on mine - think it's long gone to be honest! Should hopefully be getting a new one this week - so I can figure out how much stuff I've lost since I've last backed up. Really need it back asap so I can work out my money for moving etc as all my costs are going to be due soon!

And we had our new front door fitted today :) So that's good. Plus it's solid wood, unlike the last one - so you're likely to break your leg before you get in!

BP - really sorry to hear about your local police - surely they're OBLIGATED to do something? That really sucks.

Just wanted to thank everyone for all of the kind messages - took them home for Trev to see and he was really touched. You lot are the best.

I understand the laptop itself has limited value, but one would think that the information that could be on it could be considered grand theft!!!!

Azzy - Thats great news, you're getting a new one, hopefully you didn't loose too much since your last back up.

BP - That's really weird about the Police. I had a friend who was having a moving sale, and he had his laptop outside, and sometime during the day, someone took it, he called the Police and they came out and filed a report and stuff.

Hope everyone has a happy ending.

Glad to hear things are moving forward for you. :)

As for the police, here's a quote from one of the best movies of all time:

Heavy Metal said:
Desk Sergeant: Before you go any further, pal, I gotta tell ya it's cash up front. A thousand bucks a day for a full investigation, another thou' if the assailant is caught. Do you understand?

Harry Canyon: Yeah. Hey, here's a dollar. Thanks for nothin'.

Desk Sergeant: Think you can do better?... Punk.

That's why we Carry a Gun, You See the theft, you shoot the thief, Pretty Simple format if you ask me.
It sucks ya have to turn to that but The Police don't do much. Most of my best friends are cops and we talk about this crap all the time.

Oh man that just bites. I don't know what I'd do if my Macbook got stolen. I do everything on there.

[fingers crossed that you had most of the stuff backed up]

Sorry to hear about the theft BP/Azzy. I am not sure how well I would cope without mine.

Let this be a lesson to people to make sure you are properly backing up your data.

I spend all day recovering data. Back it up multiple times in multiple ways.

Servers and CD's are your friend.

Thieves are the bain of this world. Everyone wants the easy way out or the free way out. Worldwide problem.

Guns... If they really worked the USA would be without murder or thievery.

Still don't try to take mine.

Besides beating the crap out of a thief is way more fun than killing him.
