question for Luke owners

I'm thinking about buying a Luke. I see that it has a floating tremolo. Is the tremolo like that of a strat where you can make it only dive bomb and not pull up sharp?

Factory set up is floating to allow a pull up of 1-1/2 steps on the G string

(at least thats how guitarafondio describes it when he goes for the A# on the first try )

Hi - Welcome!!!! The trem is sent by the factory as floating, but a good tech should be able to set it up just how you want it.
If you haven't already, find a shop with a Luke and demo it. Make sure you take a credit card though.

I can take mine up, down, too hell and back, and yes take the credit card,cash or check book because you will want to take the Luke home.

I think it's just a matter of adjusting the trem in the cavity on the back of the guitar. Add springs, adjust spring tension, that sort of thing.

Exactly. My S+r@+ Plus came with trem set to float. I had it brought down to the body like that.

my Luke went to a good tech and he set it up so that the trem was flush w/ the body. so its totally doable

Was there intonation issues when you did it ?

It's the same vintage trem as on the other MMs, just set up to float. No issues making a floating one rest, or a resting one float. Yep, you might need to adjust your intonation after doing this, but any change would be minor.

It would be the same thing like on a Axis/EVH you would adjust the claw on on trem to cause the springs to pull harder and hold the trem flush. (Forum taught me something )

No. He was doing a set-up on it anyway. i would imagine that one might need to fix the intonation after doing it. But...I don't remember the guy having to do much about it. That was a long time ago, though. So, my memory may be faulty. It was probably 15 or 16 years ago.
