OK, I sold my beloved SR5 so I can fund the 20 Anni SR5. But then I see Bass Central still has a HH Butter Cream SR5, and those natural SR5 are looking sweet to. Not to mention a Honey burst SR5 with Rosewood and a tort guard makes me weak in the knees.

So Should I wait patiently for the 20th SR5 or go for instant gratification and get a standard SR5?

If it were me, I'd call Pete DuBaldo and see what his dates are for 20th SR5 delivery.

(Which is, in fact, exactly what I did a couple of weeks ago. I'm waiting on my 20th SR5 and can't be distracted!)

Nothing wrong with BC, mind you - I bought more than a few basses from them back in the old days when Gard was still around - but Pete, yeah. Good guy. Plus he hangs around here quite a bit.

You know I see Gard from time to time and we talk on the phone at least a couple of times a month. He's married now and his job is going well too. Gard is a great guy.

I've bought several things from BC over the years, good people there too.

Just after NAMM in 2003, when the Bongos were unveiled to an astonished world, I called Gard and said, "Okay, get me one."

He said, "First, I have no idea when they'll actually ship and second, those are the weirdest looking things I've ever seen and I don't want my name used in connection with this transaction."

For months, he gave me a hard time about it, which is why I of course use his name in connection with that transaction. He got my my first Bongo, though.

The Buttercream SR5HH is probably gone anyway.

I remember that bass being there because I called on it once, but I distinctly remember a pitter buying it a few months ago.
