Now I need a laugh today and this post put a smile on my face !!
I'm 8 hours away from home working - my good wife phones to say that the garage has been broken into and my car was rifled for "goodies". There was nothing in the car.
Has anything been stolen from the garage? - goodness knows until I get home on Sat lunchtime.

Man I hope there's a place in hell for all these b4st4rds!

Or, you're not home when the thief visits, and he doesn't get shot. Which is what happens most of the time.

My Office is in my House and yes one time Someone thought we we're gone and did try to come though the side door on the Garage.
To say it best he never came back.

But your right in most cases your not home, But I'm still a firm believer their coming in and If I'm lucky enough to be home then I'm Shooting. Bottom Line.

I don't know what I would do if my MacBook were stolen. Especially if I needed it for work and such.

na, im in a startup - i'm IT, engineeri, database admin, this that, artist relations dude, garbage guy etc. but we use version control for our code which is the most important thing on my laptop. so my worst case scenario is that i lose a bunch of stuff that i never wanted & some email addresses that plaxo hadnt sucked up yet.

i wouldnt wanna be in Pops' shoes here. i cant imagine the kind of stuff u lost. sucks!

Do I have to relocate to Coachella? :D

I've been saved a few times by good backups. I'm a stickler for that stuff, even though it gets mundane day after day, it all pays off the day you need it. Haven't lost any of my company's data in 18 years, on any computing platform. If only my deparmental managers' "offline" contingencies were as solid...

When I was a n00b codehead at my job, the Data Processing Manager tripped over the power cord for an IBM System/36 and knocked it offline during peak processing. I wonder what ever happened to her.
