I dont own a gig bag. But this one looks pretty cool, I have several products from them and they are very well crafted. I own a backpack, and 2 ipod cases and a laptop sleeve.

My second hand SS came with a case and a gig bag.......so I recommend the Ernie Ball Music Man bag!! It says on the back it's made in Canada by Levys. I'd always prefer the case unless space and weight were the only issues.

Someone on here posted about a Body Glove gig bag that looked really interesting. Says it offers the protection of a hardshell in a gig bag.

No EBMM yet, but I haul my Ibanez RG in a Tribal Planet semi-soft case/bag I bought in Tokyo. It has lots of foam inserts that you can use to fit the form of the guitar. I'm pretty happy with how its performed, though I think I'll stick with hard cases from now on (just cause you can really beat them up). Tribal Planet GsX Series

ALL the time. I have a single and a double gig back. Both are Levy's, the super thick kind. Those incase look really nice, but freakin' expensive.

I only have an el cheapo gig bag that my sub came w/ when I won it on ebay. It keeps the dust off but that's about it.

I have used a gig bag for years going in and out of stuidos and rehearsals and a good bag will protect, I live in NYC so its necessary to use a bag to get in and outta cabs and stuff, but everyone here uses gig bags, get the LEVY's, they are by far the best, I do however use my hardshell case when I goto gigs, because at bars in manhattan things can get crazy and they usually have you pile up your stuff in the corner til your ready to play, otherwise I use the gig bag -

Why would one want to use a gig bag over a hard shell case? Any advantages I am not thinking of?

Less bulky
More nimble
Greater storage capacity

and here's a big one for me:

I usually stack my combo and guitar case in the cab of my truck, and the case leans against the toltex of the amp. A hard case will wear right through the amp's skin from the vibration while driving. With a soft-sided case or gig bag, it cushions the contact and creates no damage to the amp, or to the interior of the vehicle.

MM hard cases are very nicely made; stouter than most. Around the house, I like the convenience of just popping it open to play. But if I'm taking just one guitar to a jam or gig, the soft side goes with me.

I would only ever use hard cases. I have never liked gig bags. Plus you can do this with a hard case!

I keep my balls in a Sack.:D I dont like hardshell cases either. I usualy use gigbags unless it has an angled headstock like a les Paul. The EBMM Gig bag is perfect and has lots of padding!

For the most part I keep my balls in the hard-shell case. I use the gig bag if I'm bringin one out & don't feel like taking the big case along.

PLUS, you can wear the gig bag! This allows you to carry a combo amp in one hand and a club soda in the other.

I prefer hardshell case for my EBMM guitars...I just think they are safer that way..The only one in a gigbag is one of my non EBMM guitars and it a nice bag at that.
