Hello all! New to the forum here and would appreciate any info about my Stingray. It's serial # is 46227 purchased sometime in the 90's. Thanks for all you are doing here, Dan!!!

Hey Bassopotamus, welcome, and my pleasure! Your bass, which we called Natural Velvet and was available for about 2 years, was completed on 09/13/95 and was shipped to Charlie Daniels Music in Fresno, California.

Sweet!

Hey everyone, first post here. I'm new to the Music Man family, I've been playing for years and I don't know what took me so long.... I just bought a Stingray 5 and I swear I'll never pay money for any other bass as long as I'm playing! I'll just keep adding SR5's to the family!

Anyway, mine is serial number E00345, which makes it look like it was born in '98 according to the database, but I just bought it brand new from a store a month ago. Could it really have been hanging around that long?

Thanks in advance for any info!

Yeah, Richie, the funny part is, it's probably travelling through AZ right now on it's way to Florida .. now that is a teasing thought! :p :p

Dead, you are correct, your bass was completed on 3/12/98 and was shipped to Royal Music Center in Brooklyn, NY. The warranty is still good! :D :D

Royal Music carries and sells so many of our instruments, they probably haven't "rotated" their stock - but not to worry - we still consider it new until it's sold to the end user (you!) Congratulations and welcome!

Thanks Dan! I bought it from Royal Music in Merrick, but I know their Brooklyn location is their main HQ. The guys in Merrick were very helpful and love to brag about MM's!

This bass is beautiful, I was dead set on a black on black, matching headstock, fretless lined SR5 but NOBODY had one in stock. The guy at Royal said he had exactly what I was looking for but it was Tobacco sunburst. He said "come look at it, even though your heart is set on black, you won't be able to leave without this, it's stunning" he was absolutely right.

So, now I'll just have to save up for a black one ;)

Thanks for the info Dan. It still makes me feel like a kid in a toy store when I look at it. Anyway, thanks again for the info.

Proud owner of Bongo F10568. 4HS in Desert Gold w/black ice PG. Looking for a DOB. I've played seemingly forever, but this guitar is just head and shoulders above anything I've played before. I can still hardly put it down. Thank you, BP. I'm spreading the word......

Hello--Just registered!

I've got an unlined fretless Stingray in natural with a black pickguard, and 3 band EQ. Serial # E07087. It's got a Birdseye maple neck--I don't know if that makes a difference.

Great bass, man.

Cool, Brian, this bass was completed on 1/04/99 and was originally shipped to Discount Music in Bountiful, Utah.

Birdseye was way more plentiful back in the day and we used it when we had it - now that everyone seems to want it, (not only guitar companies, but furniture and hardwood flooring companies) it is hard to find and we don't use it on the basses anymore.

saxnbass, certainly! Your Sterling was completed on 4/29/94. It should have a black finish and a rosewood board. It was originally shipped to the GC in central Chicago. ;)

WOW. You guys really sure keep track of your basses. It's a black with Rosewood alright. And my bass's birthday is coming up in 26 days. wow. :D Thanks for the info.
