Same advice as Azzy.... be careful, go easy, stay within the law, no matter how tempting it is to pummel the guys face in.
Taking a step down to another level means being covered in the same crap as your opponent. Please don't do it.
Sounds like your (ex) bandmate needs some serious help with his problems. Which, I know, doesn't help how you feel, but try to remember the kind of guy he used to be before he frequented the sweetshop.:(

On the advice of several here and through PM (thanks ernie), I had the police called. We did the report and what not. However, the police told me that there is not too much that they can do. They are very busy and I can understand where they are coming from.....But, a very close friend of mine is a police officer, got involved (after I explained the whole deal and the report to him), and with a civil conversation with said bandmember, he knows where my bass is located. He (police officer) is going to the location and is going to retrieve my bass. The pawn shop owner was cool about the whole situation. HE (pawn shop owner) is pressing charges against said bandmember as it carries more of a penalty for selling known stolen goods. So, with that said....I am better knowing I am getting the bass back.

My remaining band members are just as upset about this....just knowing it could have been their stuff.

The dude who took my bass....I am just simply gonna let this one go. Sorry all, I am a hot head about certain things and the past year has been devastating to me. This was the last straw sorta speak.

So, this has come to a quick ending....should be done within the next few hours hopefully.

Thanks a million for the support and GREAT advice. Cooler heads certainly prevailed here...

Sounds like a good resolution/happy ending is forming for this story. Great that you stayed cool and let the proper authorities get involved. Give your bass a hug from all of us!

Glad to hear that it appears to be coming to an uneventful and quick end. I assume the guy is being kicked out of the band. Will you still be able to cover gigs that are coming up?

So......was it the drummer?

Drummer...No....the lead guitar player.

Yes, he is being kicked out obviously. I won't be there when it happens. Probably best that I am not there.

As for upcoming shows...well...we have a HUGE one on the 21st...but, I think we can recover one way or the other.

SLUGGO...I know for a fact it will be in my hands about 4:00 - 4:30 my time. My police buddy is getting it personally for me. Again, the pawn shop owner was more than helpful and understanding. He runs a legit business and is known in the community as a stand up guy. He is just as much a victim in this as me. He is pressing charges. I get my bass.

All is good.

Nice one.... sorted out and within the law.
I know most won't feel the same but I hope your 'buddy' gets the help he needs. Drugs are devastating and most addicted would sell their own mothers. Evil curse on our society.

Dang missed out on this until now. Went from mad to relieved once reading all the posts.

I certainly don't have good advice for that I know. I hold with treating a thief about the same way as a rabid dog.

Glad it is working out without you getting yourself into trouble Koogs.

One can't forget that we all start off the same way in this world.... naked (in mind as well as body). It is what we experience and what we are exposed to that make up the person.
Not saying anyone should cut the guy any slack.... the law (and his eventual morality) is there to punish. Just try to imagine the guy's priorities, however misted.

All in all.... a good ending. Hope your year gets better Koogs.

Koogs - glad this had a happy ending! :)

And best to let it go in this case - cut the ties and don't look back on this guy. And now, although it's quite early in your relationship with the LE, you already have some "history" with this bass!
