So Midopa, did you just snap some pics at the GC, or did you actually purchase the bass?

No, I just took pics, oogled and fongled a bit. :D Fretless always look cool to me, but whenever I try one out it becomes painfully obvious it's not my thing.

Re: Fretless EBMM Stingray HH Dargie Delight

Hello, I just stumbled across your comments about the Fretless EBMM Stingray HH Dargie Delight that you played at the Guitar Center in Hollywood. I assume that you mean the Guitar Center on Sunset Blvd. and the bass had an unlined fret board. Assuming this is the case I just wanted to let you know that I was the lucky soul that snatched up that particular bass. Unfortunately for me I haven't as of yet had time to play it due to my fathers untimely death less than a week after buying the Stingray. I had to put my basses in storage and have spent the last year and a half dealing with the problems and fallout from the event. I do hope to get back to playing as I can see light at the end of the paper work mess. I am not really a very good player and am definitely not an expert on what is truly good or not but you sure are right about how good it sounds. I happened to walk into the bass room while another guy was playing it and was immediately enraptured by
the sound. Fortunately after several tense minutes of wondering whether the guy was going to buy it or not he placed the bass back in it's stand and proceeded onto something else. I immediately seized the neck and grabbed the first salesman I could find and the rest is history.

Sincerely, Paul Taylor

Paul,

I'm glad you found this thread and that you have the bass in question. Do keep us posted on your progress. I've been playing electric bass for...a long time, let's say, but still can't wrap my brain around fretless. But good for you! That is a unique instrument.

Also, sorry to hear of your father's death. Been through a bit of that myself these last few years. Time heals.

That HH is an absolute killer looking bass! I sure miss the Dargie color. :(

But a fellow I met locally (he actually lives a 1/2mi from my singer), has a Dargie fretless SR4 single H. When I had my Dargie, I went over to his place and we did a DD photoshoot, swapped bass stories etc. Cool guy, made a new friend out of it. Anyway, the DD fretless was a very nice bass...the blank plank on that green is stunning. I sure wished I had ordered one that way.

Honestly, if I were to have ordered a Dargie fretless, it's the only fretless that I can think of that I would have ordered with fretlines so I could have more of the martini glass inlays.

So, when do we hit up BP for the next forum limited edition?

I kid, I kid.
