My son has been playing classical guitar for a couple of years - reads the dots too which is more than I can do !
He is 16, and has been tooling around on a $50 Strat type monster guitar with a bent neck!

Anyway, he's hankering after a better guitar - at the same time his elder brother (#1 son) gets his first car and I stump up $1000 to help with insurance.

I talk it over with the "trouble and strife" and decide to give #2 son one of my guitars.

So was it gonna be the BCB Albert, The Les Paul or the Tele?

So back to the title of the thread -

A toss up! - Do I get rid of the BCB Albert Lee?

Nahhhh!

I gave him the Tele with a Hiscox case - he loves it.

Conclusion
I'm Tele - less but that frees up room for another ball? ;)

The fact that the thought even crossed your mind jeopardizes your long term future for potential leadership positions in the ALOC! :p

At least you were nice enough to give him the Tele - I think I'd be mad at my dad if he gave me the other thing that you said (yes - I can't even type it).

LOL
I think that's why I'll remain a NCO (non commissioned officer) of the ALOC. Still I am proud to serve ;)

A man who doesn't love his own flesh and blood enough to let him play his Albert Lee. And adds insult to injury by offering up some wannabe telecaster knock off

WOW

I hope that some day, when your old and need someone to feed and care for you, that the responsibility doesn't fall to son #2. Children remember these things.

:p :p :D :D

And where is this second Ball of which you speak ;)

I wish I had a telle at 16. I had a crappy Aria Pro. Then again, at 16 your son sounds like a better guitarist than me at 36! :)

I used to dream of an Aria pro....I had an upside down Jedson (don't ask) from the days when Japanese craftsmanship was NOT a synonym for quality. And I had to pay for it myself.
Wish I still had it now, I could probably convince some oaf on EBay that it was a valuable "vintage piece from the first golden age of Oriental luthiery"
You spoil those children Spud!!!

Aria Pro.... Jedson..... luxury!!

I used to live in hole in't ground, work 25 hours a day, crawl on my hands and knees over broken glass to get to work, pay for the privilege of working and for what, for what ?? a Watkins Rapier at the age of 16 that's what !!!

Oi Spud, you had it easy....Watkins Rapiers were way better than Jedsons ......and they even came left handed (luxury). Used to dream of one....the red one with 4 pickups (is that where Steve Morse got the idea??)
Sold a very beaten up crappy grey one on EBay 4 years ago for much more than it was worth . Still got yours?

Mine was a red one with 4 pickups and trem - good trem too!

I sold it and bought a '69 SG which went when I got my Les Paul (which I still have and will NEVER get rid of!)

When I got the les Paul the other guitarist got a Black Jedson LP.

Hey, didn't you used to be Spud the Hoople ??

Permission to laugh Sir ? - Ha !

It was said (in my hey (hay) day) that I sounded like a cross between Mick Ronson and Paul Kossof -neither of them blindingly fast but I loved their feel which I am trying to instill into my son's playing - he's getting there!

Nothing wrong with a 'classic' Aria.

This is what I played before I bought my EVH in 1995.

Which is the most worrying???
The photo itself?
The fact that you have not had all copies destroyed?
The fact that you have willingly posted it in a public forum where people who know your girlfriend may see it & show it to her?

Actually I've seen Tim play live folks and amazingly he's STILL black & white.
