As you may have seen I just got my DD Bongo 5 HSP, but there is some very noticable buzz/hum(not fret buzz) but will go away if I either turn down the treble all the way, move to only the bridge pick-up or piezo(either one works). Is that the normal thing, I haven't ever played another bass with a piezo so I wouldn't really know, thanks

It's not the piezo, it's most likely the single coil adding some hum. My fretless HSp Bongo 5 does have a bit of hum when the single coil is utilized. It's normal for the HS to be a little "noisier" than the HH or single H but when I'm playing it's not noticeable.

That being said, you might want to call Customer Service to see what they say.

I'd say that's the best bet, otherwise some wild suggestions can get thrown around, as has happened recently.

They are great folks and they'll help you out.

Yes...call Customer Service.

Recently with all the theories...someone might tell you that you are picking up satellite signals and you will need to have the gov't shoot it down so your bass will be perfect.

Seriously, give the fine folks at CS a call and they will set you straight. Good luck.

There's no need to call customer service. It's single coil hum from the neck pickup. If it goes away when you solo the bridge pickup, or if you solo the piezos, it's the neck pickup.

And, it's not broken--that's just what single coil pickups like to do in certain situations. Do you have fluorescent lights on in the room? Are you sitting in front of a CRT computer monitor when you play?

It might be annoying at home, but in a band situation, you won't notice it. I've never had problems in bars no matter how bad the beer signs glow and how bad the power situation is.

And so that he doesn't have to mention it, remember BP's request to contact Customer Service BEFORE posting here about a real or perceived problem.
