and it was sublime!!!!

Had the best gig yet, we funked the house down!

heres the plot... my Ampeg SVT blew up big style before the gig so i had to use this tiny little combo (which by the way still sounded the bomb with barbarella)

so.. i hear everyone saying GK and MB on here... whats the deal!? which is the EBMM "approved" brand? is it a similar sound to what im used to?

i purchased ampeg as i believed at the time, it never breaks, irony eh.. didn't think i'd have to buy another ever!!!

thoughts guys!?

Cheers

Sorry to hear about your amp, you should be covered on your insurance though shouldn't you?

From what I've seen, the Mark Bass amps are very highly regarded by the people in the know around here (ie, not me, as I am a guitar player, therefore deaf and probably stupid).

There's a chap that plays Bass for an operatic group that I do sound for who usually uses an Ashdown rig, but at the last show I saw him with a MB rig. It sounded really good. Very tight, but still with heavy bass presence. I thought it was an improvement (although the other one was still pretty good).

I know that Sounds Great are stockists, but I don't know of any closer to Stoke though.

You'll appreciate the light weight of the Markbass rigs.
I have the 210 combo at (44lbs) I can carry that with my left and my bass on the other arm with little fatigue.
I combine that with a 1x15 cab for larger gigs.

Jimmyb: i tried ashdown before plumping for ampeg and it didn't really sit well for me, i'll be claiming on my insurance probably anyway so its not too bad news. sounds great? never heard of them! yikes! cheers for the pointer though!

meeder: i'm keeping my 8x10 cab for gigs but may be tempted into small practice cab. practicality doesn't really matter now, having purchased the 8x10 i could use a rig the size of Mount Pinatubo and not be any more inconvenienced!! hehe!
